But ALIEN was a horror film... Aliens changed the tone and feel completely. Other then the end of the movie (shooting it out into space) it was all very different. Granted instead of Ash you had Burke... But Burke was a much better character at least

They went after the Aliens. They knew what they were up against. The plot, structure, and feel of the film are all very different.... T2 very much follows the same plot and structure of T1... But I will admit the feel is very different.. (but not in a good way for me)

Yep. Even though they are in different franchises I've always felt that T1 and ALIENS compliment each other very well and almost feel like they're part of the same universe. Obviously they are not but whenever I lament the fact that Cameron was never able to give us a full "Terminator future war" movie I just remember ALIENS because that pretty much is it. Two and a half hours of marines in a "future Reese" like setting battling inhuman horrors. What more could I ask for.

In terms of the type of narrative, I think T1 and Aliens are quite different. In terms of tone though, they are pretty similar to my eyes, and I can see them happening in the same "universe." Just like I can see Alien and Blade Runner in the same universe.

Well, I agree that Khev is off his rocker :D

Form a line. :lol

RoboCop1 and Total Recall. The Abyss and T2. T1 and ALIENS. Blade Runner and ALIEN. Yeah, its kind of fun to look at movies that directors make in a similar style with similar filmmaking techniques as being sister movies in alternate universes.

Well, it wouldn't surprise me if we one day see a film that has all those films cross over.

Aliens and robots, what a great idea.

A film that has come out recently that I would put into an updated top 5 would be Lincoln. That's one of those movies that I will watch just about every time it's on. Just love that film. Three War Movies that rate very high for me are Saving Private Ryan, Tora Tora Tora, and The Longest Day.

We're here because we're not here. There is no denying purpose.

I'm so surprised so many still love the 80s.

Well, I agree that Khev is off his rocker :D However, he isn't wrong about Alien vs. Aliens IMO. On the other hand, I think T1 and T2 are also pretty fundamentally different. T1 is a suspenseful, sci-fi horror movie. T2 is more an sci-fi action spectacle (I won't call it a family friendly action comedy for the sake of sparing a-dev a defensive response :D ). Yeah, the story has obvious similarities, but I don't think this is an Evil Dead vs. Evil Dead 2 situation. Regarding Alien/Aliens, they are even more fundamentally different to me, so I really don't agree with Difab's point there. The Marines aren't picked off one by one. They are beat down in a firefight at the beginning, and then nearly everyone else that dies bites it together in another showdown at the end. Alien is a sci-fi suspense horror. Aliens is a futuristic, suspenseful action movie. The similarities Fab points out are, as with the similarities between T1 and T2, pretty superficial when you break down the tone and objectives of the movie as a whole.

Evil Dead 2 is very much a sequel to Evil Dead... I know some confuse It for a remake but it's not... Only the first 10 min is a remake. This was due to the fact that they could not get permission to use clips from the first movie... So they sort of did a quick run down of it... At the End of Evil Dead 1 the "Force" hits Ash and the film ends... That same thing happens in Evil Dead II in the beginning and that is were the story of Evil Dead 2 picks up. You can basically watch them back to back and you would have one long story (with some continuity issues :) ) Ash also seems to forget that the bridge was out but we will say that he lost part of his memory after hitting the tree and becoming possessed.

Well, today in the DX13 thread we've got a guy who seems to think that not only is T1 better than T2 but so is T3. Please tell me you guys at least don't agree with that. :lol

T1 was a phenomenal sleeper hit and surprised me at the theater. Deep down we all knew T2 was gonna be great. T1 just shot Arnold up to a new level. Cameron became a name and got Aliens and time travel was awesome. The action was at the time was top notch and some considered it the greatest. Some scenes were incredibly shot. Many new stars like Paxton,Hamilton, and more etc had a real film career after T1. For me T1 will be the best Terminator. The music was incredible too

I don’t know if this is allowed, but I love T1 and T2 equally.

T3 has one memorable action scene, even that marred by chatty T-800, inexplicable TX ability to control cars that don't have computer systems, and a crappy CGI truck crash ending.

Been a while since I watched part 3... What was the bad Cgi truck crash.... Where Arnold is on the top of truck and the back part is flipping up? I thought that looked OK. I can't remember though.
