Besides the obvious R2 and 3PO droids, the only other droid that I MUST have is the imperial probe droid.

Here's a pic of an amazing scratch-built one by Lance Henning:

A thought just hit me. What are the chances that SSC will make C-3PO via using a buck/new body, black bodysuit, and droid plating? What would be cheaper to do, make a completely new 3PO or make 3PO armor and put it on a body?

I'm not sure because then the buck body would have to be extra skinny to fit underneath the shell.

i think they should make it from scratch. 3po didnt have a lot of articulation so they could probably eliminate some of the articulation points which would make him easier to design.

If they did that the only step up from Hasbro would then be the sculpt. I'd want Protocol droids to have as much pose options as the actual costumes would allow.

Seeing the HT endo, I have no doubt, that with HT on Sideshow's team would yield nothing less than an incredible c3po. Fully articulated in all the ways 3PO needs to be articulated.

I guess a new sculpt would be cheaper. but making c-3po with the new ssc/ht body would be a way to recoop some of the R&D cost since he's a must for the collection, so sales should be predictablely high. As long as he looks good, I dont really care either way.

I just hope they do a better job on the droids than they did on that chair. The legs on mine bent out of shape in a few hours of being on display, and in general it's just not a very impressive example of engineering.

The same goes for mine. Material used for the hind legs seems too soft, does make me ponder why couldn't they use the same tougher plastic for the whole chair.

Great idea, and the exclusive edition will come with an interchangable Anthony Daniels' head sculpt.

Yeah, I know... I tried to get the photo to post larger but had no luck. But if you want to see better pics, go to www.starwarz.com and click on the "model shop", then "Make Your Own". This guy is amazing. scratchbuilt ships, death star, moisture vaporizers, you name it.

After R2 and 3PO, I hope ;) I picked up one of AMT's 1/6th styrene battledroid kits a couple years ago and plan on doing some articulation mods to make a decent figure out of it.

Actually, they could get a bit of use out of both the R2 and 3PO molds. Sideshow could make various R2, R3, R4, and R5 units with just needing new domes, and 3PO could be converted to TC-14, Death Star droids, etc. It's a worthwhile investment if we could get them to do it :)

Not forgetting doing a 4-LOM with the C-3PO body. Btw is the AMT Battle Droid kit accurately portrayed in 1/6th scale?

Hot toys would make awesome droids, Just look at the terminator Endo skeleton and the ED 209.,, and Robocop,, and also the upcoming Ironman...Have never let the sculpts down yet nor the articulation.......Just a thought, I know that they would be more expensive, but imagine the quality of the end result ?:D:D:D:D Built in LED lights ETC Awesome

Agreed. Sideshow has yet to show any innovation compared to Hot Toys. It's time for them to either step up or step aside.
