Hello!

My question, where is the event?

You did not mention the approach of Fantacular on your website!

Thank you Sideshow in advance.

There is no Fantacular event planned for 2011. We'll still be revealing our SDCC exclusives in advance (most likely in May as has been tradition with some sneak peeks happening earlier perhaps). Remember, we have new collectible news every week in our newsletter and of course our two biggest events of the year are coming up...Comic-Con and Spooktacular!

Wow another change in the way things have gone. Not sure this is the best of trends.

SideshowAlex, are you able to tell us if SSC is planning on revealing the entire SDCC lineup of new product before the show like last year? Please say no. Pretty Please. With a Cherry. Wrapped in a bow.

I concur. There was nothing to look forward to once SDCC actually took place. No surprises make Batty sad. :(

I always felt that fantacular and black and white friday were always lesser events not worth the effort... Then again I haven't participated really in spook or comic con for a few years now...

I have a feeling SS is going to have a huge announcement at SDCC. A DC license.

Some people in the know have stated that there are significant changes happening within DC and DC Direct and essentially DC maybe opening up their product to other companies. At the moment it's only rumours.

But i do find it extraordinary that SS have dropped Toyfair and FT so that SDCC must be even bigger than before.

Either that or it's for financial reasons. Costs a lot of money to throw these events and give away all the prizes and with the ever increasing GC list and in stock products, it might not be evening out. The NRDs and cancellation fees reflect this. I'm also wondering if, as most of us predicted, the Facebook and Twitter-based Spook backfired and didn't pay off like they expected.

Considering how dreadfully slow Toy Fair was this year, it was probably a very wise decision on Sideshow's part to stop attending.

There's really no reason for them to attend anyways. When you sell direct to consumers like that, it doesn't do anyone any good. Toy Fair is for buyers, store owners, retailers and the like. When you announce a few new products every month, it just doesn't make sense to spend the thousands of dollars to show off all of your products in one large event.

It's not a matter of attending. Sideshow hasn't attended TF for years. They usually host their own ToyFair event on their website but aren't this year.

SS's days are numbered..they are probably losing money hand over fist right now. They cant pump out stuff like they use to because no ones buying and QC has dropped like a rock. They have no choice but to start cutting their losses Ie: less give aways, less new products...less everything. If a new company came out right about now putting out super exclusive pieces with the quality to match.....SS would be out of business in a year. Personally, I hope it does happen. Because all SS does now is saturate the collecting market with cheap/junk collectibles.
