well it turns out this is not shipped, i am now told it will take 1 MONTH to ship this......wtf, sano must be painting those on demand or something..
Well worth the wait. Super expensive piece, but if you have the cash...

A couple months ago - I picked up a Medicom Alien in LA for $69. The best 1/6 Alien imo.
Medicom alien is great.:lecture But not 1/6.:monkey2

wow the big chap maquette is close to beating the sano :) for those of you who voted do you really prefer the big chap maquette or is it because that's what you just bought

Wow the big chap alien makes the warrior alien look a bit small. I really dont like how small the warrior alien looks. I like both but I can get one. It's going to be big chap. The sheer size will looks much bigger and the price well i can buy 2 big chaps instead of one warrior alien. The pose I think looks way better than the sitting pose, the presence in demanding for big chap. I will go for big chap all the way.

Can you still buy the Seno Alien somewhere? If so could someone pm or post a link?

What about hunting down a Cinemaquette Alien? That's the one I've chosen. I was going to buy the SS Big Chap Maquette but then the CM popped up for sale...the price isn't as astronaumical as some of the other CM pieces either. But if the CM wasn't available to me, I'd probably go with the Big Chap Maquette. It's huge, I like the paint, and I like the pose.

That's for the alien sculpted by sanosan...
The cm is nice, I don't have mine displayed at the moment, but I love everything about it...i only have one critique....the profile should appear more streamline....other than that, its perfect....the profile of ss chap is better, but the cm captures the essence a little more for me.especially the pairing and position of the fingers and the look of the face head on and its slenderness, just captures gigers style for me, ...turns out giger already loved it with very few changes for tbe proto, one asking for the molting skin, n the other for the chromed elements....teeth nails ..paul komoda was the sculptor, he had worked with giger in the past, n giger actually did not know paul worked on it until after he had already approved the work....according to an intetview I read on tje chocolatebydeath forum....

That one seems so stiff looking standing straight? I dont like it.

H.R. Giger's original Alien sculpt in Gruyere - the alien upon which the Sano sculpt is based on (a facsimilie of) was for design -- it was in a neutral position because it was the basis for the creature itself -- it's basically the original maquette...

I personally like the creepy neutrality of it -- like some demigod worshipped by ancient egyptians or something...;)

What matters to me the most is the paint/sculpt accuracy & quality, so i am very happy with my choice to go with the sano just not the 30 day wait that was not mentioned.. :impatient:

Japanese are known as perfectionist & meticulous about every detail, and the fact this is really made in japan hand crafted by the original artist instead of mass produced in some chinese factory makes it pretty special.

I am just thinking down the line 5 years from now, the sideshow pieces will go up in value sure but this will be something of an artifact almost given the accuracy & details.

Of course all assumptions until i have it in my paws to look at, i consider myself very good judging paint quality and craftsmanship, so anxious to see it.

What's the diiference between the normal and special version sano aliens?

There are some really nice comparison pics on the yoshihiko sano thread....but the normal is darker, the way the alien looks in our minds eye...and the special is closer to the suit which is lighter for the camera to be able to catch details

very little same sculpt, the special supposedly has better paint details but honestly looking at the photos i think it's just different colors. Go with the reg (not that you have a choice now), it's a few hundred $ cheaper and more closely resemble the alien color.

stolen from you know where.. :wink1:

To me the Sano ALIEN is the best ALIEN statue on the marquette!

A 1/3 maquette from Sano woulb be just :thud:

The Sano is too small.

It is smaller than the CM and the SS maquette, but actually,it is not too small...!
I'm not saying that the CM and SS maquette suck but I would rather own a smaller kickass statue than a bigger one that sucks...:lol:wink1:

Here is a comparative photo of the CM's head and the 1/3 Sano bust...:wink1:

Thanks for the comparison pics. I was actually talking about the 1/5 scale Sano maquette being small. I would actually consider buying one if they weren't sold out..and if I could read Japanese to place an order on the website! :dunno

I see...:(It's going to be hard to find a 1/5 Sano statue now that it is sold out.:thud:The Sano is 49cm high.
Hope you can track one along the way:dunno
Then go for the SS maquette it is cheaper than the CM anyway!

Poind for pound, I would say the Sideshow maquette is the best choice. It's got great size and is fairly accurate. CM had amazing size and a great pose, but tje proportions, especially of the head, were horrible. If size and cost are not an issue, and all that matters is the strictest accuracy to detail and proportion, Sano is top of the line.

It amazes me how "difficult" it seems to have been for everybody but Sano to capture the correct head shape. Not even the Sideshow piece nailed it.

After painting up the full Sano figure, I really wish I could find one of these 1/3 busts to paint up. I think that would be the only way I'd want to tackle the skull detail ever again.
