...then why is it so far behind?:rolleyes:

It could simply be that more SW fans are reading this thread and voting?

These two movies trilogies can't really be compared. SciFi fans aren't necessarily going to like LotR and visa versa. Before LotR, it would've been SW, but once I saw LotR, it took it's place on top for me.

I love them both for different reasons, but the depth of the story in LOTR is just so epic. Lets not forget the Matrix trilogy.

Well, I don't think people are voting based solely upon genre alone? I mean, I'm a Star Wars guy for the most part, but I love LOTR and the Hobbit and read the books as a child and as an adult, and of course love the films, and although Star Wars would be my primary addiction I wouldn't say I'm really a Sci-Fi guy. In fact I prefer fantasy elements more often then not.

I would have consider the Matrix trilogy if the sequels weren't so terrible.

the funny thing with the Matrix trilogy (and I don't want to make this thread about them) is the underlying story is pretty mindblowing. The first was a industry criteria for special effects and the WB's spent a lot of energy and time trying to create that same "Holy Crap!" feeling. It works for me though on every level.

Wow....blast from the past. I love both and while I still voted Star Wars over LOTR the reality is I don't watch either repeatedly. I've seen them both multiple times but the film trilogy that I have watched the most is...

So...I would have chosen "other" if that were a possibility back then. I love all three of those movies and have seen them so many times I've lost count. I even use them as teaching tools in my classes.

I've never been a big fan of the BTTF sequels... I like them, but never felt they were of the same caliber as the original. The first movie is near perfection.

Oh I agree, the story is amazing but for me the 2nd and 3rd fell way short.

Hell yes! I am with you on this one!

I liked the third quite a bit.... The second was disappointing. The one thing about it that does still stick with me is Leah Thompson with the fake rack.... added wrinkles or not.

Lea Thompson love you long time.
