 Dude, it's only been about 10 days man...

Kibishii has a point too, we can't let the banks fail... Once that happens we are all screwed. This bailout plan that is being put through right now doesn't all go to corporations and the banks, it's going to a multitude of places. But thanks to years of idiot policies, we are in this current situation... so there isn't much other ways to get out. This is simply step one.

I can almost guarantee you that next we will see some "New Deal" style programs being started up. It's really the only logical step I can think of, other than the obvious regulations from the Government on corporations and Wall Street.

recent estimates I heard were that 30% of this most recent $850,000,000,000 bailout was laden with pork that will do absolutely nothing to create jobs. The bill was loaded with earmarks and completely down party lines (not a single republican voted for it in the house). Senate vote is pending. So I'm left wondering if I was hearing things during the campaign. I thought "it's time for a change." "It's time to change it up in Washington." "We are all one American people." etc etc etc. Same old BS, just another person leading the charge.

So how is having a completely democratic spending plan filled with pork and earmarks supposed to get us out of this economic mess we find ourselves in? When you find yourself in debt, do you honestly think it's a good idea to spend more money.

One of the earmarks was to increase wellfare payouts. Tell me Josh, if you have people who already receive wellfare, and you increase their wellfare check, how in the heck does that promote them to go out and get a job?

New Deal? I guess that includes the X amount of millions of dollars going to the railroads. Why the hell do railroads need money? That is a dying technology that hasn't turned a profit in years.

I also heard part of the plan including building ATV trails, contraception, STD education, etc. WTF does any of that have to do with stimulating the economy. Just another excuse to spend, spend, spend.

America took a major blow today. the repercussions will be felt by your children and probably their children.

stfu and smoke some weed.....

So what's your stance on the $142 billion being invested into education (ie rebuild schools, modernizing, etc. etc.) Do you feel that "too much"?

If the general public were a little more educated about issues such as STDs (which you say has nothing to do with stimulating the ecomony) then we wouldn't have to invest billions upon billions of dollars every year for additional research, curing those diseases that could have been prevented with some simple education to begin with, hence more money to be invested elsewhere....

....to stimulate the economy.

thinking like this is why he have some of those problems. so do you think we should ignore them???:duh

Economic stimulus package has absolutely NOTHING to do with weather/climate research, STD/contraceptive education, wellfare, and all the other earmarks that are in this bill.

Of course I'm not saying they are useless programs; what I AM saying is that they have absolutely nothing to do with stimulating the economy. If you think I'm wrong, please explain how these sort of programs are going to create jobs or stimulate the economy?

Edit: and if you can answer that question, maybe you can tell me where the hell this $850 BILLION dollars is going to come from. And if you can answer that, tell me how spending even more money helps you save money and owe any less to the other countries that have been buying out America.

I already did. See my first post.

Don't they already teach Sex Ed in school. I know I had sex ed in 6th grade and again in 9th grade. Has that gone away? Are we now going to add a daily sex ed class to the 6th grade and up curriculum? If so, sign me up.

obviously its not sufficient anymore. and yes they do need to add more education and services for them. and we have to pay someone to do this right??

And last time I checked, the number of reported STD cases in the US is still well into the millions. So you don't think we need more education?

Education is important to the economy, HIGHLY important. Weather research is good for the economy... more jobs, better forcasts and better evacuations. Welfare is important because most welfare checks don't give you enough to make it... and if the poor have more money.. guess what? They put it into the freakin economy. If reform hits Welfare, which I think it should... that should help stop the rampant overuse.

But seriously Scott... dude... take a chill pill or something. Or just turn off Fox News for a moment so you can think clearly. :lol

Lets decrease the US population and abort third term babies to help reduce costs. Sure, that makes great sense. What are we, China now, where we have a population crisis? Give me a frickin' break.

You know you won't be able to convince me that any of these earmarks that I have mentioned the 30% of the $850,000,000,000 bill was loaded with will make a damn bit of difference in our current economic crisis.

Are (some) of them good programs that have value in educating people? Yes. Can we afford to do them right now? No.

Democrats solution to the current economic crisis from over spending = spend more money. That's it, plain and simple.

Maybe offer some examples of where there is going to be considerable job growth as a result of this bill and I will respect it. But by hiring another couple thousand school nurses to demonstrate how to put a condom on a banana isn't going to make the slighest bit of difference except being further in debt.

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc., which is buying rival drugmaker Wyeth in a $68 billion deal, and Sprint Nextel Corp., the country's third-largest wireless provider, said they each will slash 8,000 jobs.

Home Depot Inc., the biggest home improvement retailer in the U.S., will get rid of 7,000 jobs, and General Motors Corp. said it will cut 2,000 jobs at plants in Michigan and Ohio because of slow sales.

:(

everything is hurting...

Bottom line to this discussion... Republicans didn't do any better Mesa. 8 years, things only got worse. Bottom line.

Even at the end of the Bush term... what did they do? Toss money at it. :lol

It must be really hard to walk around on planet Earth when you are so blind.

Wow. Jumping to conclusions are we? I don't remember anyone using the term "abort" anywhere or insinuating that.

I think my point was well taken a few posts ago.

Yep, it's definitely tough out there. I am thinking of cancelling my Beserker PF ex. with the Aussie dollar TANKING against the greenback over the last 6 months....It's just getting too expensive.....I have started to hoarde money, because with the employment outlook not looking too positive for everyone out there, better to be prepared...Because the cost of living sure hasn't come down that much!

You have to understand the mind of Mesa... in his brain.. that video was 4 minutes of Pelosi eating aborted fetuses and shooting fire from her nostrils. :lol

I guess I'm just very tired. I must have missed that. :lol
