The problem with Supes Returns was:

- The Director (Brian is a good director but sometimes you dont get it right)
- Making a movie like the first one from 1978, how imature is that??
- Kate is a great actress! to yung for the part and the main problem was the script.
- Spacey good actor, bad script, Luthor had to be like the byrne era (the one that smallville is currently portrayng)
- Langela (Perry White) boring again, because of the script.
- Sam H. (Jimmy Olsen) good casting - bad script
- Brandon Routh, looked very young for the part, he is not a good actor, he did an acceptable Supes but again the script hurt his performance.
- And i remembered the first time saw the suit it was like the world was ending for me but in the end i accepted it, but right now i feel like the first time i saw it so i hope that in the next movie they stay true to the basics (lite colors)

If they want to cast a young actor they should go with Henry Cavil, but thinking of it whn they (if the do) a JL movie the guy will look to young to be the main man there, if i was directing it i would probably cast someone that looks very close to Chris Reeve.

My point of view :D

I don't mind at all that they made this a quasi-sequel to the Donner movies. Smallville does it to some extent in using the crystals in the Fortress of Solitude. It was such a good idea back then that it became almost engrained as part of the Superman mythos.

The real problems were:

1. The kid. The less said about that, the better.

2. Kevin Spacey's portrayal of Luthor. Fine that he wanted to "copy" Hackman, but he could have played it straight and it would have worked. This also ties in to the script and the idiotic scheme/motivation for Lex. If they had a better plan for Lex and he would have been dead serious (which we know Spacey can play), then he would have been great. I agree 100% the Byrne Luthor is perfect.

3. Kate Bosworth. She was absolutely terrible. She seemed so bland and wooden in the role. Lois is spunky and feisty. Erica Durance has been doing a great job. And even Parker Posey would have done a great Lois!

I still think Routh was good. Especially as Clark. Not too bumbling and nervous (I think Reeve might have gone a little overboard with that bit). I wasn't thrilled with the costume either. The shield was definitely too small. I really hope Routh gets another chance to play him. If the script and director are right, I'm sure Routh would shine.

All new film, new direction, new take, new cast has been the understanding.

Nolan will most likely act as a producer only and I've heard that Nolan's brother Jonathan wants to make it his directorial debut, but that's nowhere near official at this point, and might just be a rumor.

Here we go again. It would be nice if they picked someone and stuck with it. Speculation went on forever about who would be Superman before and now it's happening all over again. I didn't mind Superman Returns and if they had organised another movie soon after I'm sure it would have turned out fine. Instead it's been what 4 years since Returns and now they're starting from scratch all over again.

I honestly have no clue on who should be the new Superman, it seems a pretty hard role to fill. I think it would be best to once again go for an unknown or at least someone who's a good actor but hasn't cracked the big time yet.

i like Routh. with the Superman Returrns experience, he should be more awesome this time around. people actually liked him for the part, it was just that the plot.. well, sucked.

The only other film I've seen Routh in was 'Zack and Miri Make a Porno' and he was awkward and stiff (no freakin pun intended), so I think he was born to play only Clark Kent/Superman. They should just stick with him.

Matt Bomers is 33, good age for Supes, although I'd still like to see someone around the 40(ish) mark, I think this time we need a little age & experience in Supes, it would lend itself to bigger more epic stories.

I kinda like this guy. Metroplis, Illinois Superman celebration 2009

Please God no....... lets wait until Nolan & Goyer deliver de goods. If it is a trilogy there is a possibilitty that the cast could be young actors (like Spidey). I have my faith in Mr. Nolan vision, at the end of the day he will deliver, who taught that Heath Ledger was going to be the best Joker or Villian in a Superheroe movie!? :naughty
