My recent purchase coming next month Leon RPD for basically close to $450-500....
Selling my HT Leon RPD for $200 early last year is my #1 hobby reselling regret...:monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

Kicking myself now because I want to go back and buy him and Wesker but I can't bring myself to do it. :monkey4

...I just bought a reg. Doom for $900 shipped, those of you _____ing about price inflation for collectible items need to understand economics 101.

Very popular item (demand ) + not alot of them out there (supply) = massive increase in price

No way I am going to be selling my P1 EX anytime soon.

:lecture:lecture:lecture This is coming from someone who was in your shoes about the Doom PF.

My kids won't even get my RPD Leon. I wanna be buried with that sumbich!

So glad I have no interest in acquiring the AvP predators. Crap film...and if y'all are honest those figures don't look all that great either. Hot Toys have come on a bit since then.

I'd have to ask do I really want them or do I just think I do because it seems, with that inflated price, like its the thing to want amongst the collecting community.

Celtic is definately a sweet predator if you ask me. It's too bad that he is so expensive though. In order to get a Celtic relatively cheap I ended up getting a chopper predator and giving him a battle damaged mask from bobamike. Looks just as good as the original if you ask me. :rock

I don't agree in any way. They look great, they make for a great collection. I would not just want them because of an inflated price, its the other way around... Along with other collectors, I have caused the inflation in price because I wan't them so much.

And rightfully so...

I guess I just don't understand why someone coming in late on the Hot Toys Predator game would bother with them unless he was a serious completist. There have been better Predator figures made since, some of which are probably still available at cheaper prices than those AvPs. If all you need is a 'representative' of this particular creature design (mind you I don't think the OP made such a statement) you most definitely go with the P1. Maybe also the P2 if you're of the school of thought that P2 was a worthy sequel which I think it was.

Hot Toys-wise, without a doubt, I put the AvP Preds as my personal favorites. They look awesome when proportioned right, unlike the movie, which is a different argument.

See, now The Wolf, while being a tad out of context... is being a tad logical.
Big polystone bust -- Expensive, yes. Worth it, well it's polystone so yeah.
Figure -- Expensive, yes. Worth it, depends on personal taste and how much you have... which is what the last two pages here have digressed to.

Like I said, I'll probably get a Chopper and have Bobamike supply the net-caster and bio. I just love Celtic.
But I've set limits for spending over the years. Just wait for a good opportunity, or go for a cheaper look-a-like. It's still HT. Only difference is you'll get those badass skulls and bladed boots (oh, yeah :D !).

I also happen to love the first AVP very much. It was shot nicely, stylishly, and the plot was straight out of the comics, but with a stylish twist. Me likey.

Yea, I think the original AVP was an awesome movie and had a great story. Not sure why so much hate towards it...Not like we are talking about Robocop 3 here:eek:

Yea, it;s much better to move forward...But, if you wan't it, you don''t need to justify it to anybody but yourself, if you can do that, go ahead. Money is made to be spent right:D

lol, well said. Personally, even though the P1 makes a better figure, I'd like to have one of each of my favorite movie designs.

So... P1, check.
P2, check.
AVP-R Wolf, eh... the NECA version's better (oh no, he didn't! ;)).
AVP, hopefully check.

Huh? Surely you do not mean the original four AVP comic run because the movie didn't follow that at all other than the human/predator team up aspect (Broken Tusk and Machiko).

If someone wants a SERIOUSLY good read that shows just how bad ass the predators really are: https://cgi.ebay.com/ALIENS-vs-PRED...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439c03b55c

I don't believe that series goes for so little now...

This is a classic example of why you shouldn't really talk about things you don't own. Why? Because you have absolutely NO foundation for your statement. BY FAR, let me say again, BY FAR the Elder Predator has got to be THE MOST DETAILED predator HotToys has ever put out. But then you'd have to own it, to know it.

Every single one of those predators are worth the current price they're going for. I didn't flinch when I paid $400 for a 12" Patient Zero and not only are there better figures on the market, but considerably more detailed Dead figures released by Sideshow afterwards. I didn't flinch because I knew what I was getting into when I started shopping for him. And when he arrived, he was worth every penny paid. That's why these are called high-end collectibles. High-end, high prices and high stakes. If you can't see that, perhaps it's best you stick to the clearance isles at TRU and catch some of that NECA/Mezco markdown action.

that's what I did. Sold off all the other Pred's and I really don't miss them at all. Plus I have a Bobamike Chopper/Celtic bio so I can just swap Scar whenever I see fit:D

That is a sick display of Preds and that's not even all of them , so much WIN right here. :rock

I tried to own the P2 Elder predator, had one ordered through Forbidden Planet and it just never materialised despite it being, to my recollection, a preorder. Suffice to say I don't use FP much now.

But anyway I was specifically talking about the AvPs, not the P2 elder.

Can't wait to see who'll I'll be adding from Predators....but who am I kidding, I'll probably buy them all at first and then start selling one off one at a time until a winner's left:lol

don't worry, I also had an elder P2, but didn't share the same love for him everybody on here does so I sold him without any regret

I don't flinch. I've accepted $400 as a good deal for an HT Pred. Add shipping to that, and it's still to be expected. What's more, it can be done. Especially for a Chopper.

Excuse me for trying to snag a better price for these, and it has happened in the past. I got my BD P2 for $275 shipped just this last January. Box was in perfect condition, figure was never put together, and it was some super-fast priority shippin'.

Just because I mentioned I liked NECA's Wolf, doesn't mean that's the only thing I collect. Sure, NECA and HT at opposite ends of the price spectrum, but do they look good? Yeah. Do they blow McF's out of the water? IMO, yeah.
So now, I've got a running collection of one of each Alien/Pred-related fig NECA has made, and can't wait to get some original movie Preds to be in-scale with my AVP-R and classic Aliens. But like I said, I also try to collect one HT fig from each from my fave Pred designs.

Honestly, that comment of yours leads me to believe that perhaps you don't understand a few things, either.
As a result of your annoyance with newcomers who are shocked by some of these prices, you are now judging things from the perspective of status. You may not have said it quite like that, but the gist was "If you can't handle it, just go on over to TRU and look for clearance deals on cheap items that anyone can easily get. Go big or go home, etc. etc." Well first of all, that's a no-no. Because you don't even know these people. They may indulge in multiple figure lines, each with their own values. Don't be upset with them just because they want to hold on more tightly to their money and try to find a better deal, especially if it's been proven possible.

I.E, there are high-end collectors, and low-end collectors. I (as well as many others) enjoy items from both categories. They all look nice, serve a different purpose, there are different figures from each, and they cater to different wants.
So just buy what makes you happy, and if you can find a price that makes you happy too, by all means go for it. I'm not saying offer a ridiculously low amount for something that's WAY more valuable, but if history has taught you that it's possible to get it cheaper, strive to find that price point.

PS: Verbal21, that is a rockingly ideal display. Love it. Everything you need, nothing you don't. Perfect for me, minus that Wolf... who actually looks quite badass in that photo lol.
