The problem is that not everybody has a thick skin, lots of them are introverted and shy and to have someone whom in their eyes should be in the same boat say, oH! what you collect is for losers. it's kinda awful and disrespectful. You Maglor have a thick skin so it's not an issue for you

Where are you going with this...

Not trying to start another debate are you? :monkey3

You are addressing a basic problem with humanity, it's to big to fix.

Thankfully we have moderators that clean up the really over-the-top stuff.

I love these forums, and it seems that people are pretty respectful over all. There are a few notable exceptions, but people seem pretty quick to silence those individuals (or ignore them).

Yeah, I love coming here too but as you said, some individuals here do need a kick in the nuts or a death blow to the temple. Cliquey, yes but a cool community nevertheless. We freaks rule, the rest drool!:rock

Remind me not to cross you...

I think you are correct in that overall people are respectful, but there are notable exceptions who tend to color the whole shebang, IMO. And some of them are ignored. Some, however, are not. For some, childish behavior is actually reinforced because people love jumping on bandwagons (another very human trait). The worst is the anti-criticism brigade.

I haven't noticed any of this stuff going on, but maybe I'm just not in the right threads. I say collect what you like, and to hell with what everyone else thinks!

Imagine someone buying there first collectible being all excited and then they happen on the nerd boards and read all the generalization bashing of said collectible. Not something to motivate a new collector.

That would suck.

The worst is the anti-criticism brigade.

Anti-criticism is some funny s--t.

I'm better than most everyone here. As is my collection.

Me>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>99% of the board members.

Your collective failures enhance my epic wins.

You will always be weaker than I.

And I'm that one percent.

Me >>>>King Darkness>>>everyone else

the best part is the irony in all of it.
Everybody wants what they like to be "The best piece/license out there".
But then they all want to act like they know better than the masses. The same masses who they want to agree with them.

They think all the others should want the same collectibles they want.
Then they want a low ES so not all of those people can have what they have. THey just want them to want it, not actually have it.
if they get the low ES they want and miss out, they cry like a little baby cause of the missed opportunity.

there are a lot of Emo collectors on this board.

Maglor, you actually hit the nail on the head with the basic problem with Humanity, which is kinda where I was hoping to go. We all go through crap scraping and saving and spending on our collectibles. We get the crap from people that don't collect. So knowing all that why would you still berate someone for something that you may or may not collect? Most of the ppl that have responded to this thread are the genuinely decent collectors out there in these forums. I have seen make their stance on an item but not so much generalized a whole section of collecting. And thanks for helping out with my chain of thought.

Jinxx, you and Buffy Girl rule.

After scrolling through, I already forget what the topic is. BUTTT I don't care what anyone thinks of me and my collection. Here or anywhere. I even post stuff about it on my Facebook status. Cause...I.IS.PROUD! :D

Here..here. If it makes you happy...that's all that matters. I could care less what anyone who isn't important in my life thinks. :D

that's a knee jerk reaction, however, if that were completely true you wouldn't be on these forums sharing with other collectors. Everybody that collects wants to make a good connection with others that collect. So you can't sit there and tell me that you if bought something and you're rapping with someone here that was probably here before you and he said "oh I can't believe you collect that crap", you wouldn't get upset?

Why would I? I buy it because I like it...not because someone else likes it. Do you buy to please others or for yourself? Everyone has their own opinion, and if they don't like something I bought. So be it. Doesn't mean I'm going to like it less.
