Will Sideshow's Marvel line eventually decline???

The thing about the scale issue is that do you want say a Hulk to be 1/5 and basically make it the same size as someone else? I don't think most folks do.

As with any company finding ways to improve QC is the best route to go.

They do take fan feedback now and use it accordingly. Heck, most of the time I'm pretty sure they're making the changes even before the fans come up with something. As is the case with Bowen or Hot Toys (who has said they don't care for it when fans make comments).

Like when they changed a perfect color Nightcrawler??? I don't remember an outcry about the color. Now with the Colossus comiquette, that was the most outcry I've ever read on a forum, and what does SS do...NOTHING! Hulk comiquette hairdo another very loud outcry, and SS response...NOTHING! Now I'm not saying that Sideshow is a terrible company, because I still like their statues, just wish they listen a little better than they do. Now I do remember them changing the color of the tie on the Hitman PF, but from my experience most of our request falls upon deaf ears.

Just a few Marvel examples that I could come up with quickly:
  1. Emma Frost PF
  2. Colossus comiquette 'robot' head
  3. Hulk comiquette buzzcut
  4. Cyclops PF EX head

I also think that it will still be popular long after we die, with all the movie coming out, there will always be new fans, on and on. Many of us say that sideshow's barely scratched the surface when it comes to marvel characters, well we did not even come close to scratching the surface when it comes to the Marvel character movies. So many great characters and stories waiting to be created such as Silver Surfer, Deadpool, doctor strange, iron fist, Nova and many more heck I would love to see the Civil War movie one day! So long lives marvel!

Dios- go "back to basics" with the epic battles that got the line started. One idea that I would love to see would be a dio set such as multiple X-Men dios that connect to make a scene vs. Apocalypse, Magneto, or Sinister (I have a feeling the dio line will be 'on hold' soon)

Just because a "few" mans make some noise doesn't mean there is an outcry by any stretch. Thats one thing that always cracks me up about message boards is they think they're some kind of large chunk of the people making comments. Now, do they make every change fans ask for? No, they don't but no company does. As with anything there may be reasons as to why they don't. Too far in the process to make changes, licensor wont allow for them, not enough people want to see these changes, etc. I do know they listen to the changes that are requested but they make not act on every single option tossed out.

I think some of you would only feel they listen if they made every change suggested and if it was "your" suggestion.

The very notion that Sideshow's Marvel line will deteriorate is absurd and laughable. Unlike other stellar licenses such as Star Wars, LOTR, Terminator, Aliens, etc., Marvel Comics has consistently updated their episodic story lines on a monthly basis since the 1960s. There will always be some killer new story arc on the horizon, or a gorgeous update for a favorite character. And the potential for new characters who are yet to be developed is staggering. There's an infinite number of characters, each with multiple designs to draw on for source material.

Using fresh artistic talent and continually updating their characters to live with the times, Marvel has ensured that their properties will continue to survive for generations. Given the rate of expansion of the population of the world, there's no reason to believe that any Marvel fans who might outgrow or die off will be replaced by a multiplicity of new fans.

So my answer is, no. Absolutely not. Despite the early release of most of the principle Marvel characters, there is so much more that we've yet to see. There's no chance at all that this line will die out anytime soon.

You won't find Sideshow passing or losing out on both the Marvel license or the Star Wars license, both easily the biggest and most moneymaking that SSC has.

I also think you won't see SSC care too much about scales because by the time everything is said and done with bigger characters like The Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America you'll see multiple versions in all scales.

I see where this is going with you and I'm done. You ask questions to knock the answer that you recieve. Like I said in the beginning "My opinion, my opinion...JMO" That's the way I feel, and you feel the way you feel, now, just let it go and move on. At least that's what I'm doing after this post back to you.

Have a good day Sir...:wink1:

So true; the most impressive thing is how Marvel has transitioned into so many mediums as well as successfully converted many readers to the online format.

Trust me, Josh is Josh and you gotta take him for what he is. He can be really insightful at times, but when it comes to talking about Sideshow:

I hope it doesn't. At least not before they give me Silver Sable :monkey2. That's the reason I started collecting. Figured I could singlehandedly keep SS afloat till they get around doing her :monkey3

Will it eventually decline is not the question that needs to be asked. Marvel has been around forever, and prob. will never disappear. Sideshow may one day get bought out, or sell itself out. However, as long as there is a market for it, someone will always produce it. IMO Marvel will be around forever, therefore there will always be Marvel products which will include busts, statues, etc. Look at how much money the movie industry makes of of these movies. In other words, have no fear, Marvel will always be in profit.

To answer the thread title; No.

Single handedly keep SSC afloat? Wow u must be a big spender? :cuckoo::monkey3:panic::monkey3

I keeeed!!! :peace

But seriously, SS: Silver Sable or FAIL!!! :exactly::lecture

And re the thread topic. It'll be a while; frankly I think as time goes by they'll hire new talent with fresh takes on old characters, as well as new sculpts that may likely blow some of the older ones away. Someone mentioned the inevitable competition further down (though I think it'll take a little longer than 5 years to break SS's monopoly on the hobby); I agree, and also agree that that'll cause either quality to increase, or prices to fall, or both: increased value due to competition.

And then there's the vast portfolio of Marvel characters yet to be explored. When do you reckon we'll see the likes of Taskmaster? or, God forbid, Silver Sable? :impatient:

It is more than likely that most of us would tire of this hobby, or run out of space, or money (or both! :monkey3) before it ever enters decline at a level where any boycotts of SS products would become worth mentioning.

To remain in this hobby, you must have deep pockets and several layers of shelf space, with several rooms to place those shelves.

Dream-within-a-dream-within-a-dream kinda thing :family

I'm just giving you my reply to your answers. I'm sorry you can't deal with the fact I don't agree with them.

Nope, Sideshow isn't perfect, never been perfect, and never will be perfect. I'm just saying that what is being said as far as them being on a high horse or not listening isn't the case or is the case for some because "THEY" aren't being listened to.

What am I exactly? :dunno Sorry, if I don't agree with someone I say so. Just giving my two cents. If that bothers someone I don't give a ____ honestly. I'm not going to agree with someone just to make them feel better.

If people feel this way you can always use the ignore and save the Tylenol. Though, I find if funny people that say stuff here and then are always so nice to my face at Comic-Con. Always funny. :lol

No kidding. Just opened my Thanos and Lady Death Dio today: Cap Shield broken, lights won't come on (they did come on later, but sadly the shield refused to glue itself back) :monkey2:monkey2

And that shouldn't happen. Thankfully you should be able to get it replaced through SS assuming its not outside the 30-40 day window.

This is how I feel about a classic Jean Grey Phoenix in 1/4th...there are other characters that I want, but once I have the above I could retire from statues.

I still need a few more statue before I can retire from the game. I'm hoping buy the time I hit 40 in 5 more years I'll pretty much have all that I wanted out of this Marvel statue collecting.
