Politics had always been in entertainment, but they used to be a lot more subtle and you have to read between the lines. Now they slap you in the face with it and it’s so blatant that it’s annoying and immersion breaking. I don’t play a medieval fantasy game to get lectured on pronouns and sexual orientation. I just want a good game with good story and characters. Hopefully Witcher 4 will deliver like how they did with Witcher 3. I have heard a lot of negative things going on at CDPR but hopefully this game will not fall victim to the nonsense and just deliver a good game.

Can we keep this BS out of this thread/forum please? Sick and tired of hearing about culture war everywhere. You have the "chuds" on one side that scream bloody murder, and the other side sticking their head in the sand and pretending nothing is wrong. Reality, as always, is far more complicated and nuanced and the internet is the last place I'd expect people to have any kind of in-depth, bona fide discussion.

This is the one place I hope not to hear about this crap.

Keep in mind, the online population is a small subset of the larger population. If a game can stand on its own merits, the silent majority will let it be known, and the game will sell like hotcakes. And on that note, there is no reason why The Witcher 4 cannot succeed.
I think so also. It will be a good game as long as they keep the writing the same as the first 3 games. If they stay true to some of the aspects of the books while making their own take on the world as done in the previous games then I have no worries this will turn out good.

I responded to the comment after I posted this, providing clarification and context. Though in hindsight, in doing so, it just opened a can of worms. Please feel free to re-direct the topic if that bothers you instead of asking rhetorical questions.
It's the irony of the guy who asked no one to talk about it, cause he was tired of seeing culture wars everywhere. But then proceeds to write the longest posts on it. That has me loling the most.

FYI DEI discussion have their own forum topic located here. https://www.collectorfreaks.com/threads/the-dei-political-thread.251332/

It's to help keeps the threads clear of the off topic stuff like DEI which you originally said you didn't want to see in a thread talking about Witcher4

Thanks for pointing that out; I'll keep any such future comments off of here. To clarify, I don't mind discussions surrounding the current social climate of video-games, but a lot of the forums I've been to have just been one side dogging on the other, or an alt-right/left echo chamber.

I hope we get some HoS and B&W type expansions down the line, and perhaps villains like Gaunter O'Dimm (who I hope make a return).

I was thinking the same thing it's a perfect opportunity for Ciri to be challenged with a contact by O'Dimm maybe putting Geralts soul on the line or having him help Ciri through the whole ordeal. I love B&W but HOS was my favorite of the two stories.

That’s why continuation is great! We’ll see beloved characters!

Lynx school confirmed :monkey4

It would definitely be cool to see a school of witchers that fight alongside Ciri in the games. Also reminds me of the Samurai medallion that came with Cyberpunk 2077 as pre-order bonus. Neat.
I have a theory that's it's Ciri's school. As there were only few Witchers left she probably wants to continue legacy. So many questions and no answers.
Trailer theme is out. Folklore part goes through my soul. So beautiful!
New composer this time.

Normally these things are rendered in Arnold or Vray. The fact Unreal can pathtrace means they can use all the game assets as is if they wanted to.

Well, not running, pre-rendered.

I don't think the game will look exactly like this but it probably wont be far off by the time it comes out. It wont be until next console generation.
One of the voice actor's page says 2025 release. I saw it myself but don't remember where. Actor voices a new character. Probaby that's too unrealistic but I think it will be out before PS6. They were working on this for years already. Witcher 3 was announced in 2013 and released in 2015.

It's definitely not coming 2025. Geoff said during the presentation at The Game Awards that it was a peak at something beyond 2025.

It's literally only just entered full production in November of this year, it's gonna be another 3-5 years.

I'm also a fan of the theory that the school of the Lynx has been founded by Ciri herself and that the abandoned Kaer Morhen has become a school for witchers again, but for her to undergo through the mutations, the trials, and create her own school it must mean something seriously wrong is happening in the world.

Adamczyk did an amazing job on Cyberpunk 2077 and the music in the trailer sounded just as good, I also heard Marcin Przybyłowicz and Percival Schuttenbach will be involved but I don't know if it's true, either way the soundtrack will be a banger!
Politics has always been a part of entertainment. Did people think Star Wars was apolitical?

Creators will almost always put part of themselves and their beliefs into whatever they create. Nobody can ever be truly unbiased.

I swear this was never an issue before like 2020. People are even calling GTA6 “woke”, as if Rockstar games haven’t always been “woke”.

I’m pretty much on the verge if purging all social media at this point because it’s all becoming so exhausting.

Can’t wait to play this game and enjoy it and ignore all of the idiots online like I do with every other piece of media they try to cancel.
I definitely get the concerns regarding the whole DEI thing (we all must've seen the clown show going on at Jaguar by now) but I relate more to your post, the whole anti woke movement has just gotten ridiculous at this point, literally anything with a woman in it is woke now. The thing is, the grifters complaining about wokeness in games don't even admit when they're wrong.

There was so much garbage surrounding Silent Hill 2 remake and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle and after those games released and proved themselves to be quality pieces of entertainment that respect and understand the source material, the grifters just shrugged it under the rug and moved on to different targets. I guarantee these people will keep bitching about Ciri and this game until it releases and if it turns out to be an amazing addition to the franchise they'll just disingenuously say it's mediocre or alright and keep moving the goal post.

Regarding CDPR, I'm still excited for their future stuff and Witcher IV, they released a brilliantly written, quality expansion last year for Cyberpunk, so even with all the "DEI hires" in there it's clear they're still producing quality narratives as of last year. The only point of contention I have is Unreal Engine 5, it makes every game a stuttery mess but almost every developer is switching over to it because it's easier to work with and eliminates the costs of maintaining an in-house engine. It also makes it so every game looks the same which is a shame, it seems like the only great proprietary engines left in the industry are Rockstar's Rage engine, Naughty Dog's engine, Decima and the Frostbite engine.

I also agree with this, I don't think the game is coming any time soon, 2027 at the absolute earliest, 2028 or 2029 if we're being realistic.
