I knew after it came out more and more people were going to say it wasn't that bad. And now that's what were seeing in this thread.

I'd say it's 50/50, at best. So don't go out and buy any lotto tickets just yet. :lol

Also, keep in mind that the scale for this movie slides between "It's HORRIBLE" and "It wasn't that bad". Hardly anyone is truly singing its praises. What does that tell you?

THIS is the new movie that it's cool to hate. :lol

Yeah, seems that way. But i have a feeling after some time goes by most will just think it was a decent flick and not the garbage that some people think it is.

what would you rate it on a scale of 1/10?

7/10 personally

And now you're comparing this to WATCHMEN????

Oh, it's on. :thwak :)lol)

:lol NOT comparing the film itself to Watchmen... I LOVE that film. It's on my list of all time best comic book movies. This film won't make that list, but it is still miles better than The Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, or Daredevil. It's a flawed film, but fun to watch... It's an enjoyable film in the end, with some good character moments.

It lacks the polish of Watchmen or Dark Knight or even Iron Man... which while great, isn't as highly polished and epic as the others. Wolverine wasn't that epic, or polished, but it still a very fun movie that isn't as damn disappointing as people have painted it.

Could it have been better? Hell yeah! But does it still work as a film and is still exciting? Yeah. It's not Meet the Spartans, and it's not Ghost Rider... it's much better than that. It was a very enjoyable popcorn movie, I liked it very much. So there. :lol

And Krayt, I give it a 7.5/10. Better than a lot of crap out there, but not as epic as the other films I mentioned. But still damn good.

For the record, my rating is 5.5/

Below-average, mediocre, and ultimately forgettable. Sure it won't go down as an ELEKTRA, but it's a huge miss.

For the record i liked SM3 better than this movie (just a little, both 7/10) But i didn't view that as the Cardinal sin that people say it was either.:dunno

I totally get where DarkArtist is coming from when he mentioned Watchmen
I also supported that movie when people where coming on to the Watchmen Thread like barbelith who clamied that we should not like it because he thinks it sucks.

Just a thought, but one thing I found funny in the title sequence is how self-healing mutants are apparantly not bound by regulations when it comes to hair-cuts and facial hair in the army.

from rottontomatoes..

38% rating for Wolverines
100% rating for Star Trek
N/A rating for Terminator: Salvation

I have a feeling that Star Trek is going to be a major hit this summer...

Got a message from a friend that simply said

"Saw Wolvie, if you go in like a fanboy you'll leave needing to kill someone. If you go in like a Twitard you'll be fine".

The Twitard comment is a reference to the Twilight fans who never read the book or even knew the history of the characters just went in because they got swept into the hype and bought all the merchandise as neofandom. It seems like this will play well to casual fans and newcomers so to me it sounds like a KOTCS thing where you have to separate your fandom and popcorn flick mindset it.

Which indicates Matinee to me.

Im neither a fanboy or Twitard so what would you peg me? I enjoyed the movie, my wife enjoyed the movie even though this is not really her type of genre...but i guess a naked hugh jackman was a reason?

I understand fanboys crying "raped childhood", but honestly what movie is true to its source material? Hollywood ALWAYS messes something up in that regard....we all know this. But just because they fumble things in terms of continuity doesnt mean a movie is garbage. I think if you guys take it for what it is and stop comparing it or expecting it to be your comic books translated directly to film you guys will be ok.

Hey, some people had the same reaction to US when we liked Watchmen, and they didn't. :lecture

Honestly, it wasn't the train wreck everyone made it out to be. And unlike Watchmen, where there was a "bandwagon" of people who liked it, this one has a "bandwagon" of people who hate it. THIS is the new movie that it's cool to hate. :lol

It had many flaws, but so did X1 and X3. Even X2 had flaws, despite it being very good. This film was fine, and I was 100% ready to hate it. I had no hype going in whatsoever, nothing like I have for Star Trek. I wasn't even that excited to see it, but it surprised me.

Well said Josh, that's exactly how i see it as well.

:google Are you serious??? WOW.

To each his own, but I'd be interested to see if you still feel this way a few months from now.

I liked it wayyyyyyy better than KOTCS that's for sure.

And i'd even go as far to say, Origins Wolv was more 'fun' of a movie than the Watchmen movie as well. I thought that movie came out pretty subpar compared to the book...

Are there any sequel news or rumors? I hear the next Wolvie film will take place in Japan.

I think that's because of the bonus scene that is playing after the credits on some prints.

There will surely be a sequel (or prequel) of some kind, though... because this movie is (sadly) making huge bank.

Just saw this a few hours ago and I liked it. I went into it pretty much not knowing anything about it since I was able to avoid all but one preview and read non of the reviews or comments about it from anywhere.

I'm not any kind of Marvel or Wolverine fan either so I don't really know what they did or didn't do "wrong" with it which probably made it even better.

I give it a 7/10 rating easy. Very watchable.

This is because Jackman admitted that on of the storylines looked at was Frank Miller's run on Wolverine which took place in Japan. Its possible that its the well they'll go to for a sequel.

Simple. The General Populus. Twitards are those who go retarded for a movie without having any background knowledge about it, you've seen them for every film, never have read a Batman comic, know even less about The Joker but have a ton of TDK merchandise and were there lined up at midnight because they got caught up in the hype to the point of fandom without the fan background so they love it before even seeing a second of film, it just happened overwhelmingly with Twilight so the phrase was coined. Fanboys really need no explanation.

Most people fall into the General Populus where they know the characters from one point of reference to another and they go in with that expectation, that Wolverine is tough, has claws and there is a lot of action.

I don't think I'll have too bad of a reaction to it because I was never fanboy about Wolverine, my favorite was always Magneto but then again I never signed on to McKellan playing him so I'm sure if Origins: Magneto goes forward it'll be low expectations as well.

Rotten Tomatoes or Swine couldn't keep the box office down, it's performing above average as in not tanking like Punisher: BrokeZone did...

Was everyone in the movie theater wearing masks?

Would they be related to the people that keep telling me TDK is the perfect expression of Batman and that if I don't understand that I don't understand Batman? The ones that can't just enjoy their Batman movie without it being all things to all men?
Love those guys.
I think a lot of nerds (and especially Knerds) need to get off their high horsies. Comic books, and I LOVE them, generally contain much stupider stuff than what's in Wolverine. When you conisder the ridiculous BS that's gone on in the books these characters come from they've definitely fared better at the movies, quantity to quality. And as to changing the characters, Marvel and DC don't even respect their own continuity - why should anyone else?
That's not to say comic book movies shouldn't aspire to greater heights. That's fine. But dversity is fun.
There's a place between raped childhoods and The Popcorn Movie Defense. It's nice here.
Wolverine - 7.5 out of 10.
Yeah, I point-fived it.
And before anyone gets bunched panties - if you don't think something above applies to you, then it doesn't. I'm not addressing anyone on this board specifically.
