Hardly. I was excited for Deadpool. Who was going to be in the movie. Just as people are excited for Gambit...who is in the movie.

I'm not really pumped for Gambit so much as I am to see the film's violent and sociopathic characters turned loose. Deadpool is supposed to have heavy scarring that's added via CGI, so I'm still reluctant to say anything for certain. I don't know. At any rate, I think I'm definitely going to enjoy this movie a lot, particularly with Wolverine and Sabretooth's stroll through time together.

In a PG-13 movie?

Would an R-rating necessarily improve upon a superhero film featuring violent characters, other than to allow for more graphic gore? Most of what is done in comics these days featuring such characters doesn't constitute a harsher rating at all.

If they're really meant to be sociopaths let off the leash. Zodiac was rated R and there's scarcely any violence or gore in it. Ditto Inland Empire, which is probably the scariest movie I've ever seen. I just get a little confused by studios hedging their bets like this.

If it has more than one F word in it, then it's rated R. I know of few horror movies that don't have it in.

The Joker cut loose in TDK, that warranted a PG-13, and thankfully so because too much gore can shock as well as disgust and take the audience out of the situation. It was a wonderful balance, and similarly in other Marvel and DC films, they work best when not exaggerating the gore. Hinting at or showing the aftermath of Sabretooth's graphic rape and murder of Silver Fox would be more effective and make for a better film than showing the actual rape and murder fully. It allows for the same situation without detracting from the story. I'm optimistic that it'll be handled well. Weapon XI is all that worries me at this point.

The Dark Knight got a PG-13 because Warner Bros demanded one and there were politics at work. I'm not sure Fox has that sort of leverage but maybe you're right.

Worked before and it could easily work again. It's a simple matter to make a movie showcasing supervillain sociopaths without obliging a restricted audience.

I'd sat they're two different types of antisocials altogether; compare the Zodiac killer to Sabretooth and you find two completely different individuals in terms of style. Both have twisted takes on the human condition, but Sabretooth is a deranged soldier, not a furtive mentally acute serial killer. He would gladly walk into the middle of a stadium filled with people, execute his target, and wait and hope that someone would try to attack him. One thrives on outsmarting his opponent while the other would rather openly confront physically... just a matter of getting which gets either of their blood flowing better.

Could they have made Wolverine loaded with gore and swearing so as to warrant an r-rating? Most definitely, but in making mainstream superhero movies, studios try not to alienate younger audiences. Comics and superhumans should most definitely have an appeal for kids, even with the industry continuously geared towards more adult readers. It's the "getting them while they're young" marketing; best to make a movie that even kids will be going to see and buying action figures based on their favorite characters.

They make action figures of Omega Red who is a convicted mass murderer and child rapist. The figures still sell. I wouldn't mind an r-rated Wolverine, but I'm happy with pg-13. My movie preferences find a healthy balance between PG-13 and R usually. I'm sure I'll be satisfied and that's all that I ask.

Anyone checked out the updated site with a few character bio updates?

https://www.x-menorigins.com/us/

"I despise my humanity as much as you cherish yours. And I will come for you without mercy." Got chills from that line. Sabretooth is looking awesome.

Hell, the newly updated bios even make it seem that Gambit, Wraith, and the Blob are going to be awesome. The Blob. Never thought I'd say that.

Yeah that's very cool. I like the blobs.

I thought the same. I don't know whether it was the background music on the site that enhanced his bio, but it gave me "Deliverance" vibes. Never thought the Blob would seem an intimidating character in the movie until this. :rock
