I assumed that Singer meant that the third McAvoy/Fassbender X-Men movie was the worst.

Well, that would mean he was making fun of his own Apocalypse movie.. The only movie he had no involvement with was X3 The Last Stand. He left the X-Men franchise to make an even more horrible Superman Returns, as Superman was his childhood fav that made him go into the film business.

And X3 seems to be the most panned of all 6 films. Singer directed 1 & 2, wrote the story for Last Stand, then directed once again Days of Future Past and Apocalypse.

Superman Returns Imax (not Liemax) 3D plane rescue scene is considered the holy grail of Imax 3D.

It truly was glorious to behold.

Shame the rest of the movie sucks balls.

Cavill > Routh

If I want to watch charming Reeve Superman with JW music i'll just watch STM1/2 and not Routh imitating Reeve in a boring ass movie.

Saw the movie last night. I'd rate it pretty good.
Kinda similar to Man of Steel in my opinion. I just didn't like the last battle.
It seemed fake and pulled me out of the movie. I didn't buy the actor being Ares, nor did the CGI convince me. I understand that there should be a "boss battle" at the end, but I was expecting Kratos from God of War to photobomb the audience every time there was a cut. :dunno

All in all...I'd recommend it to friends. A solid B-/7.9 out of 10

I did not like how Ares looked in the climax only in the flashback.

I enjoyed the finale but I do think it was a mistake to show Ares looking majestic and awesome in the flashbacks and then have him wear crude gray armor at the end. You should never tease something awesome only to close the movie with a lesser version. I was looking forward to watching goddess Diana brawling with another radiant god juxtaposed against the backdrop of a scorched WWI airfield and was a bit disappointed when Ares just fashioned his armor out of bits and pieces from the German's base. It made him feel more generic and statue like. His look kind of reminds me of those stone knights that the Harry Potter kids dueled when they were standing on that one chess board.

It was still cool overall but I do wish that his final reveal matched or exceeded the awesomeness of the earlier scenes.

Funny u bring up Harry Potter cause that was literally lupin from Harry potter

Ares has always been big and imposing. The guy that played him was anything but.

I'm ok with how they portrayed him.

I wouldn't want to see a huge guy playing the part, by making him an old dude made him scary in a way.

Gods will be Gods, no need for muscular bodies.

But i'm thinking he should've changed his form into looking like her mother just to add some insult to the amazonians

Get this, while watching BvS WW looks sad when she witnessed the mortal Lois lose Superman, the god she loved.

It makes sense she would feel for Lois because she herself the goddess witnessed Steve the mortal she loved die.

Opposite of Lois's situation.

Wait why am I telling you this you hated WW and BvS lol

I never said I hated WW. I just thought it was an ok movie. BvS, ugh. I can only watch from the wharehouse scene and on. The rest always puts me to sleep.

Ares can take any form, even animal form, he obviously has a classic armored look but he can appear as anyone to blend in, they pretty much nailed him in the movie.

True but when he's explaining what happened to him he had the face of the old British dude. So im assuming that was his natural face all along.

Yeah, that was one of the parts of the movie that looked awful in my opinion. What gods have just mustaches?? Full beards and mustaches yeah, but just a mustache? :slap

I agree, it was a little odd, nothing major for me, but I would've liked to see a Greek-sculpture looking dude instead of his modern facade with his goofy mustache and stuff.

That Poison chick was scarier than Ares.

Ares gets lost in the long line of forgettable barbarian types from comic movies: Ares, Ronin, Malekith... I get them all mixed up visually.

Likely will be able to add Thanos to that list.

Hopefully, if the MCU does IW and Thanos properly, he will not be forgotten.. He should and will most likely be the best onscreen villain yet. The focus of the story is more on him than the heroes.. In the 1st movie IW half the movies screen time should be focused on him acquiring all the gems, and not on the Avengers. It should really be more a Thanos movie than an Avengers movie. At least that's the way story is in the original comics.
