It doesn't bother me that the lead is a female, and to be honest I don't even believe men and women are equals, so most of you will probably disagree with me there but when it comes to fantasy land I can excuse a lot under proper context and as long as it's judged fairly I have no problem with it.

I agree with you to a point; I think some women are equal to some men. I once saw a 5'2" Woman Marine kick the **** out of three soldiers (Army) in training. :panic:

It was actually pretty fun to watch. :lol

Plus she was pretty hot. :naughty

Makes sense this would happen... women this generation have larger love-bumps than their semi-male counterparts weened on Dancing with the Stars and Kardashian tramp-humor.

Look what they're marketing to:

To me, Mad Max Fury Road obviously had a ton of feminist undertones and such, but st least it did its best in showing real equality. Older women were kicking ass, and getting their ***** kicked. Was it realistic? Not at at all, but at least they didn't make the women in that movie invincible just because "men should never lay their hands on women".

And handled by Joss Whedon. That movie is going to be absolutely horrible. I'm no fan of any movie not he DCEU, but I have told you I at least respected what they were trying to do, until Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman that is. Now they're just copying Marvel's formula.

:lol :lol :lol

You weren't a fan of Wonder Woman?

Nah, for the same reasons you already stated so eloquently lol

Even with the news of Elfman I still have some hope for JL, I'm hoping that Whedon limits himself to oversee the editing, hopefully blend his directing parts with the rest of what Snyder did, so that the completely different styles, or more specifically, Whedon's lack of style, aren't jarring, I doubt the photography will be affected a lot, but the camerawork may, with the reshoots.

And ffs I hope he limits his one-liner writing spasms.

I think it's just time to give up on Superhero movies being good films. I thing those days are long gone.

The Justice League trailer already looked quip heavy, and supposedly Wonder Woman and Batman were going to have the biggest parts, adding Whedon in really seems to amplify what they already had planned. More jokes, more Wonder Woman. I don't know if you've ever read his Wonder Woman script, but it was truly godawful.

I know I'm in the minority with this as well, but I truly believe this man has no business being behind a camera making films, and maybe he's better off at just writing comics.

That's why it's not feminism, you're doing a disservice to FR. Feminism isn't about equality, equality is about equality,

But all the women were physically overpowered by men, you see, the women in FR could only hold their ground because they were skilled shooters/drivers, not through shameless forced acts of physical badassery, like that Uncharted 4 DLC.

Different but equal.

Yeah, same for all blockbusters, but I think there's still a chance, it's true that we've settled in this plateau of formulaic, often mediocre CBM, and now the DCEU is looking to go in that route too.

But maybe, just maybe, in the next wave of movies, the next reboot, or whatever, when we're over the "Wooah, right out of a comicbook panel!!!", we can start getting CBMS about something, the way comicbooks have been about something, for decades now.

I don't know if you've ever read his Wonder Woman script, but it was truly godawful.
I can only imagine :lol

I actually thought you would have liked this one :lol

It fit perfectly in the MCU.

But if you read what I said to Snoop earlier, I don't think men and women are equal :lol

So to me, it still does have a lot of feminist undertones but it's not really gratuitous or unbalanced as other movies these days are when they try and tackle such issues.

You make a great about Fury Road though, only Furiosa was really using her physicality and even then it never came off as unrealistic, especially with her fight against Max.

Eh, I think I'm ready for the next fad to take over cinema. With guys like Whedon overseeing the DCEU now and the formulaic MCU consistently being applauded for their safe approach I don't really see how superhero movies can be decent again. Fox seems like they're going to be doing the same thing with X-Men now and Deadpool being such a huge hit, maybe They'll continue doing one offs like Logan, who knows.

I think I know what you mean, and I think you know what I mean.

Equal in terms of dignity, rights and all that crap, but that's no reason to pretend or deny we're different in many ways, is that what you mean?

Exactly, Max overpowered her physically.

But turns out she's a better shoot, with good reason since she was an imperator.

What do you think it's the next fad? I don't think I can predict it, I see this current blockbuster and CBM fad lasting for a while, for all the talk of Superhero fatigue, it hasn't happened yet :lol

One day this toxic mascilulinity will end. And women will reign supreme

Ummm, I mean I obviously believe women should have rights, but I'm certainly more old school in how I believe relationships should work, or even certain jobs. For example, I don't think women should have certain jobs such as being a Fireman, they're a liability. I certainly don't think women should be slaves or anything like that, but I definitely believe this is a man's world like James Brown said :lol

So that's what I mean.

Say, a woman could be a fireperson, if she meets the same standards everybody else does. But lowering the standards because "progress", is dangerous, and so on for other stuff.

Are we on the same page? You seem fidgety about sounding sexist or something. :lol

Yea this is going to be happening for a while :lol

We live in a world where The Fast and the Furious franchise is breaking records :lol

Honestly I don't know. I mean the horror genre is thriving as well, but they're successful because most are made on moderate budgets. Personally I would want to see video games adapted well but I also think 95% of video game stories are pretty stupid, but maybe hiring a great director with a vision for something can elevate the material.

I'm a huge Metal Gear fan as you know, I think a movie would be awesome but it would have to be a lot different than the games. The games really are made for the gaming medium, and that might turn a lot of the fan boys off.

But I certainly think a big budget God of War, Last of Us, Metal Gear Uncharted could work under great directors.
