Then it's a poor example to bring in how many comic books are sold in relation to how many people are big enough fans to spend $400 on a statue. You are trying to sound smart/sanctimonious by bringing in the return aspect. I know how it works. But many shops order a certain amount of stock to keep around as back issues. They don't return everything ( nor are all books eligible). Hence why that number doesn't represent 1 to 1 anyway (the only point I was making)
I dont even know why we are arguing about this. Your trying score points on what you think I said, versus what I meant, and the entire conversation is borderline idiotic anyway, which has probably got CSI nodding his head as to why I am engaging in it.
I'm not bothered by the ES, but I would be if paying retail for a Reg.
Based on Batman still being plentiful, I doubt how many they really needed to make to meet demand, but dont really care. I suspect these pieces are abnormal because they want them to be around a good long while for a variety of reasons (not all of which are bad).
And you weren't being sanctimonious with your irrelevant comment?
The point I'm making is that when the fans of the main source in which the public consume a product out number the amount of that product being made in another medium then it isn't an over saturation. Comics are the only example you can bring when dealing with the characters being sold in large volume on a regular basis. The fact that the pricing point is largely different only comes into play if you know how much desposable income each of those consumer has, which no one can know.
The point is that the market for statues isn't as small as some people think. It's why every Bowen release sells out at the source, it's why there were 2000 Batman EX's sold in 4 days and it's why, even if it takes a bit longer than some people are used to, yes 9500 of these statues will sell.
FFS how many Vader PF's sold? Did it take a bit, sure, but not every statue has to sell out in week/month/year.
As you said in a previous post, some of these are meant to stick around, even if it's only the Reg. Mainly I would speculate to entice buyers to get one of each when the come into the statue buying game late. How many times have people come to this site, which is a small sampling of the amount of people who actually buy statues, and said "Damn, I missed that one, well I guess it's too late"? Sideshow missed on those sales, but with the DC Trinity they can get those sales and still sell out of stock.
I'm not hating on you for having an opinion, but I do think discounting where the main source of the fans of these pieces come from as ptential buyers is mistake. As I said most people found Wonder Woman in comics, not all, but most and that's where you're going to get the majority of buyers for a $400 statue of her.
