Again, I'm sure a lot of adults do. However, that doesn't mean this line will be a success for SS. I'm sure these folks will buy their favorite characters but how many will buy more than one? How many will buy any? This is a line with high risk and high reward.

Sadly, like you say, it's not a fact that this line will be a sucess. I hope for the best though. It just upsets me on these boards that many people are totally just giving this line crap, saying it has no potential, and saying it won't suceed in a million years. Now that's a bad attitude.

I'm sure these WoW gamers can't afford $200 Sideshow Statues.
wtf?

I honestly know nothing about WoW. What is it people are paying that kind of money for? powerful characters or something?

It's the dark and stupid side of Warcraft. Yeah, people don't feel like playing the game for hours upon hours to get a uber powerful character that is ready for the toughest and best quests, so they decide to just pay big bucks for a leveled up character and skip right the fun stuff. This stuff is also illegal. The people are selling stuff that is owned by Bliizard. They can't stop these though since the sellers don't post character names and realms the characters are in.

LOL too funny. Some of you all are saying WOW fans won't buy statues because? People buy LOTR suff, so why not WOW?

People/fans buy what they like.

WOW....I was surprised when Diablo II stuff was on ebay for like $50, but those prices are CRAZY......

Isn't it a bit early to speculate about the succes of this line? We don't even know what format or pricerange these collectibles will be in. But if they promote them in the vast WoW community (countless fansites) they're bound to sell some stuff and above all draw the attention of a new public.

I haven't played a single second of WoW myself but I'm a huge Warcraft fan. As in the Warcraft Universe. There's the continuing storyline that no ingame screenshot can do justice. Best to judge is the concept art, or just download any of the cinematic trailers of the games and you'll see what the magic is about.

Sideshow already had the lamest license announcement of the year award in the bag with The Fifth Element bobbleheads, so they could have saved the WOW announcement for '07. Although, this does take it to a new level of LAME! At this point, though, I'm sure the Jan 1st announcement will set the lame bar for '07.

Congrats to those who are excited about the line.

Thanks, I'm actually glad that finally there is a new license I really like.
Btw I dig that maiden in your avatar, but being off-topic I guess I'm not supposed to say that :monkey1

It does bother me a little that Sideshow thinks it can get us all hot and bothered over 5th Element bobble heads and WoW statues. Hey Sideshow, we have better taste (see Hot Toys Licensing)...and that's why you didn't get company of the year from this guy!

Honestly, I was gonna start a poll this week to see who planned on being disappointed. I guess it would have been pretty depressing.

Nope. You're a dork.
haha
call a video game player a dork, but not an avid toy/statue collector?
we're all seen alike as esoteric geeks to "normal" people so let's not rag on our own "kind" :monkey3

I don't mind this license.
It shows Sideshow's will go far to please different types of audiences.
soon, it won't only be the star wars and sci fi fans rooting for 1:6 collectibles, statues and other toys.
It'll be a lot of different people.

I'm a big Ray Harryhausen fan but these characters just don't do it for me. Is Sideshow going to make "Big Little Heads." Although these are very imaginative characters some of them look down right ridiculous. I'm tired of characters with overkill muscle mass and ity bitty heads. I'm not sure how many fans will drop more money on this line. You need to pay for internet, you need to pay to play the game, and now they want you to pay for a character that is forever changing. You can never fully connect to players because their characters are all so very different. I will quickly pass on this line. I quickly get bored of statues because they remain static and collect a lot of dust. :monkey4 :monkey4 :monkey4 :monkey4 :monkey4

I say BAD move Sideshow! So there!!! :banghead :banghead

good financial move.

like another member said a couple psots back.
even if only HALF A PERCENT of the fans bought a statue, that's already
35,000 buyers.

Don't let ignorance of other people's esoteric hobbies cloud your perspective.
My siblings can barely even understand why I keep buying figure and collectible art. They say, BOOOO whenever i purchase one.

they have sweatshops where people "mine" for gold online and sell it.
this game is huge, i've never played it, but I've played older versions and it was quite addictiving and entertaining

I don't collect toys. I collected statues, but no longer. Either way, dork or not, I don't give a ****.
HAHA! You sound so bitter. Relax and enjoy yourself. I think everyone has a dorky side to them, whether it be toys, statues, perfumes, video games... etc. Let's all have fun here and be nice.

As far as this new license is concerned, I am sure some new people will enjoy it and the rest of us will get something we like more later.

I don't play WoW as I am not a fan of Warcraft, but this is good news for the fans of it.. I think SSC will be successful enough. They obviously know what they are doing. We need to remember that SSC will cater to everyone. That doesn't mean that everyone will be pleased though. Some people just can't be pleased as they say. I know personally, that WoW has some really neat character designs and what not. Cool characters, that's forsure. It is too early to say that this will flop I think.

A dork is someone who collects this stuff or plays those games but doesn't have the ability so see it as dorkey to the rest of the world. Then gets pissed over a thread like this. Lighten up. Everyone here would be seen as odd by most of the non hobbyists. Especially the rich guys that have a room dedicated to this stuff. Doesn't matter whether it is worth 15 or 50K and set up tastefully. Most people would walk in, look at it and walk slowly for the exit, or tell them the could've bought a beemer instead. The key is to not give a shi* what the others think.

I have no interest in 5th Element bobbleheads, but I know enough about the world to realize that someone out there probably will enjoy them.

There are huge grey market industries behind WoW where people pay hundreds of real dollars for thousands of WoW gold. The character auctions were also pointed out - no, people aren't paying $1 mil for a character, but they are paying $1,000-4,000 for them.

There may not be a lot of crossover in the WoW audience and the members of this forum, but there is some. I don't play a lot of video games, I haven't owned a console game since the Atari 2600, but I do play some games on the computer, including WoW. I'm their audience - 25+ year old fantasy dorks with disposable income.

SSC normal statue runs are around 2000, so to sell out a run they'd have to get interest from .000286% of all WoW players. Seems doable to me...
