This has happened to me on both systems.
I would say get the Xbox as I got that fixed for free thanks to the three year guarantee

After reading all of the comments, I will probably start shopping around for a PS3. Especially because I could then play Killzone and MTS. Do I need to get another hard drive like I did with the X-Box? Any advice is very welcome!
.

All PS3 consoles are sold with pre-installed hard drives. Right now I think the available sizes are 120gb and 250gb for new PS3s.

I have an old 60GB PS3 that I installed a 500gb drive back in 2008. Works great and I have many, many movies on it.

As for the graphics debate they both have specific games that they shine with. The 360 usually gets better with multiplatform games, but the PS3 pretty much owns when it comes to PS3 only games. Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, and God of War III are proof of this.

I'm consistently more amazed by PS3 exclusive games than Xbox 360's exclusive games. I mean, GoW2 and Alan Wake looked great, but in my opinion those two are the best looking 360 games and they still don't touch games like Uncharted 2, God of War III or Heavy Rain.

I still really want to replace my 360 in time for Halo Reach though. That one could be the best-looking Halo game yet.

Definitely. The 360 is no slouch though, but it's the truth that the PS3 can churn out some insane graphics given the proper development. I still prefer my 360 over the PS3, but the PS3's simple media capability give it preference for watching TV shows and movies that I put on a thumb drive.

I'll always argue that I'll take mediocre graphics and better storytelling over better graphics and mediocre storytelling.

~~Here's another option. Replace the 360 now with the new system design, and when the X-mas deals start popping up look for a PS3 bundle so you can have both.

I own both... on my second 360 'cuz the "ring of death" killed my first:mad: My xbox is currently collecting dust, but when gears 3 comes out it will be out of retirement.
My PS3 gets used almost daily, for movies games ext. It's just more user friendly in my opinion. At first I was xbox all the way, but over time PS3 won me over.:1-1:

For those that promote the 'free online gaming' via sony - while that is true, you do get what you pay for. It's like the wild west of civility. Rude & curt describes many players on PSN

Im gonna say PS3, it has pretty much everything 360 has. Maybe they changed it but PS3 also has a free web browser, you can download music and movies (shh :rotfl) off of certain sites, havent reallly noticed a difference in live gaming to be honest, and even if it does have less people playing live, how many people do you really need to play a round of team deathmatch on COD or Mercenaries on RE5? :lol +1 PS3

UNBELIEVABLE.

I am what you call an "occasional gamer". I play every once in a while. to be honest, haven't played a game since January. Finally bought a copy of AVP for Xbox 360 and as soon as the game starts, the screen freezes and now I get a red ring every time I turn it on.
I am so upset by this, seriously.
