Xbox 360, lots of great games, better online play, even if it isn't free (PS3 is not as reliable online, and doesn't have all the same features). And while it doesn't have Blu-Ray, you could probably buy a Blu-Ray player and an Xbox 360 for the same price as a PS3, depending on which model you get

When it comes Blu-Ray players you can't beat the future proof PS3.

i'm probably late on this but i say buy a 360!

i own both! Xbox live is soooo much better than PSN!

although if you need a blu ray player then PS3 is great!

I'd say Killzone 2 out of those two choices, but I thought Resistance: Fall of Man, the first game in that series, was way better than the second one.

Here's a list of great games that I love and think any PS3 owner should have:

-Uncharted Drakes Fortune
-Uncharted 2
-Metal Gear Solid 4
-Heavy Rain (I love it, but maybe rent it first since it's not for everybody)
-God of War 3 (Pick up the God of War 1+2 collection if you haven't played them yet as well)
-Infamous

Download this from the Playstation Store:

-Scott Pilgrim game (It's a really awesome old school beat em up similar to River City Ransom and Double Dragon)

There are some awesome PS1 games for really cheap in the store like Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3; Dino Crisis; and Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

I'd also like to add both Ratchet & Clank games and the first Resistance to the must have exclusives list for PS3 owners.

And Killzone 3 looks sick as hell.

I went to play MGS4 today and it looks like it installed the entire game. Is this normal for the PS3? Won't that chew up my 160GB fast?

If you're in it mainly for the games - I would say the 360 is the way to go.

The PS3 blu ray is great, but the tiny controllers blow, and the games just don't seem quite as good to me (I have both, so this is an unbiased opinion). The free online gaming thing is cool, but it's not nearly as well done as X-Box live IMO.

:lol edit: never mind, I see you got a PS3.. although I like the 360 better, the PS3 is still a great system - congrats!

It should only have installed 4.6gb. That's not exactly the entire 50gb blu Ray disc, but it's still a sizable number. You have a fresh 160gb hdd though so unless you're hurting for drive space, just enjoy MGS4 and then uninstall the game once you're done with it. You keep all your Save files and trophies.

It does if you don't bother to delete games off the hard drives after you finish playing them, or if you play all of your games frequent enough that you just prefer to leave them installed on the hard drive.

~~I'd recommend looking into a 500gb hard drive if you're concerned about space running out. They are pretty freaking cheap compared to when I bought mine back in 2008, but I never have to worry about space despite have tons of movies, tv show episodes, and music on it. Seeing that you just bought your PS3 it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to back up your saved games and perform the drive swap.

~~P.S. -- Most laptop hard drives will fit in the PS3. 2.5" x 9mm is the standard with only a few of the larger (750gb and 1tb) drives being 2.5 x 12mm tall. Just remember to check this to ensure you are getting a 9mm tall drive as the 12mm won't fit inside the PS3 internals. Here's one that I'd recommend:
Hard Drive

I have both and I have to say that I enjoy playing my PS3 more. I've currently beaten more PS3 games than any of my XBOX games. Gems like Uncharted 2 and GoW 3 are too good to pass up.
