I hope Fox replaces it with this. :lol

Being 100% honest, if I was in charge of "fixing" the billboards, I would bring Ryan Reynolds in, and do a quick mockup with Deadpool being choked by Apoc, and stick that on every billboard :lol

I think that's why the inserted a giant Apoc during his battle in Xavier's mind.

I kind of felt that scene was just fan service. Not to mention since it's taking place on the astral plane, and Apoc doesn't have near Xavier's telepathic power level (which is why he wanted him), he should have been a pushover. But I'll admit I did take size-changing Apocalypse as a consolation bone.

I'm a woman. I care about women's issues, especially domestic abuse. I'm a feminist, so I believe men and women are equal.

I would like to say that...

FOR GOD'S SAKE IT'S A DAMN BILLBOARD OF TWO BLUE COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS FIGHTING. IT'S SHOWING THAT THE VILLAIN IS A DANGEROUS, MURDEROUS BADASS. JEEEEESUS! AND IT LOOKS COOL, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. IT'S A FEMALE CHARACTER GOING AT IT WITH THE VILLAIN IN A BATTLE. SURE, SHE'S THE VICTIM HERE, BUT THAT'S OKAY. IF WE WANT SUPERHEROINES AND SUPERHEROES TO BE EQUAL, THAT'S GONNA HAPPEN. WE WANT BOTH SEXES FIGHTING AND HURTING ONE ANOTHER. WE WANNA SEE *BOTH* GET ATTACKED BY THE VILLAIN BECAUSE THEY'RE *BOTH* FIGHTING TOGETHER TO BRING HIM DOWN REGARDLESS OF THEIR GENITALS!!! APOCALYPSE GOES AFTER EVERYONE AND HE EVEN RECRUITS WOMEN TO FIGHT FOR AND PROTECT HIM. THE WOMEN IN THIS MOVIE ARE BADASS!!! FOR GOD'S SAKE, IF YOU KEEP WHINING THEY'LL BE TOO AFRAID TO SO MUCH AS LET A MALE VILLAIN BOOP A FEMALE CHARACTER ON HER NOSE, BECAUSE OH NOOOOOO! ASSAAAAAAAULT! UGUGHRUKGHKDFGHUDRGHERKGT.

</rant>

Apocalypse is MY hero. Bless his evil heart. Recruits AND beats on men and women equally.

I just hate to see this movie get caught up in "SEXISM! PROMOTING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN!" garbage after treating the female characters so well. I mean, yeah, I *CAN* see where the complaints are coming from. But I just don't agree with 'em.

No one would be crying about "promoting violence" if they showed him beating on Professor X or Quicksilver. If we want to see more women fighting and keeping up with the male characters, then we also need to be comfortable seeing violence aimed at these women by the male villains, just as we're comfortable with it when it's, y'know....brutal man-on-man action. :lol

why isnt he holding a male mutant?
why isnt he holding quicksilver
why a womyn?
womyn are strong too, why isnt she holding HIS neck? why is apocalypse a man? why didnt make the most powerful mutant a womyn?

actually why not just hold Xavier?

‘Dad, why is that monster man committing violence against a woman?’

Sounds like a typical 9 year old.

Okay as a highly scientific experiment I showed my own daughter (who just happens to literally be 9 years old) a pic of the billboard and asked her what she thinks is going on in the image (she hasn't seen the movie) and how it makes her feel. Her answer: "Star Wars." "Huh?" I said. "It says X-Men on it where are you getting Star Wars?" "It just reminds me of Darth Vader choking that guy on Princess Leia's ship." Ah, lol. So then I asked, "Since you haven't seen the movie, what do you think is going on in this scene specifically?" She said, "well since there are blasted buildings behind them I think they probably had a fight. And in the trailers she was teaching the X-Men and I knew she used to be bad so that guy is probably mad at her for turning good." "Ah," I said, "so what do you think happens after he chokes her?" She said, "I have a feeling that he'll probably go easy on her and put her down." Well okay.

So then I told her that some people were complaining about the billboard and that the studio has decided to take it down. She said, "Really? Ohh because people think that's a spoiler? But it's in all the commercials." :lol I said no because they think that the sign says it's okay for men to choke women and she laughed. So there you have a genuine 9 year old girl's reaction. And even as someone who *hasn't* seen a single X-Men film there was enough context with the blasted buildings in the background and all the TV spots and just general knowledge of who Jennifer Lawrence was in previous films that her fragile mind didn't for one second think "monster man abusing a woman." So I redact my statement that Rose McGowan had a point.

I can't tell if this is a Khev joke or not . . .

I feel like the mindset of Fox's promotional team was to show how serious the X-Men are in trouble because Mystique, the hero and badass of these films is in danger :lol

I guarantee you that's all it was.

Everyone is trying to blow things out of proportion and get on a soap box now a days.

thats not how it works though :nono:nono

that sentence in of itself is sexist. it promotes violence. women should be always able to beat up the male characters but the male characters should never beat up the female characters. that's sexist.
