X-Men: Apocalypse - May 27, 2016

watched this yesterday and I still feel tired and angry at it....

I also rarely say "I want to watch this to wash off the bad taste of this" but man, I really want to watch X1, 2, DOFP or First Class right now...

I just watched this for free and I rarely say this, but boy am I glad I didn't pay...

This **** was BOOOOOORING, it was excruciating to watch a some points.

Neither the depth and action of BvS, nor the lightheartedness and humor of CW. Only some fading vestiges of what made the previous good X-men movies good.

This was AoU without the fun, and it even makes AoU action look exciting as ****.

The Good
-1st act
-Some very very good lines:
-Jean walking on air
-Storm hot as ****, accent makes ears melt
-Kurt Wagner
-Quick Silver
-Didn't kill Jubilee
-Danger Room
-Score

The bad
-CGI
-Felt dulled and bored out of my ****ing mind with the action, completely unimaginative. And I'm very very good being empathetic with the action, physicality, etc etc of superheroes, I was exaggerating when I saw CW had 2000's wire work, it really was just wonky a bit.. THIS **** is 2000's wire work at its WORST. Singer has NO idea how objects, bodies and forces behave.
-They tried a return of the jedi with quicksilver, thank god they didn't go through with it.
-They're in the mind realm, and they do a fist fight.... a fist fight in the mind realm. **** YOU!
-Apoc only gets bigger in mind realm.
-Metal X so dumb.
-Mystique
-Cinematography

Meh
-Wolverine
-Overall script and story
-Most of the fan service
-Phoenix

They tried
-Oscar Isaac, kudos for this guy, committed to the role, even a very meh role.

This movie made the whole god thing boring to me, and I LOVE Gods and mythology...Also, I'm not one of the clapping seals who often goes "back to Marvel", but ****, I have no interest whatsoever in this universe anymore, there's absolutely NOTHING they can do anymore, they exhausted every possibility they could.

What can they do next?
-More social/philosophical commentary? Exhausted and I don't care anymore about these characters and universe.
-More Charles and Erik "old friend" banter? Exhausted and I don't care anymore.
-Go full comicbook/MCU? Singer proved beyond doubt he can't do that, this is Singervere equivalent of an MCU movie and damn if it isn't just as bad or worse than a low end MCU movie...

So yeah, let Marvel take this back, even Deadpool, the R-rating didn't help that movie outside of adding profanity.

First time in a while I've been angry at a movie.

Singer is obsolete, his skills are outdated, his way was great for the introduction period of CBM back in the 2000's and his good movies remain as good as they ever were, but he needs to go.

Saw this last night, it's ok. The whole film seemed a bit off with the acting, people single out JL but I felt like half the cast acted bored, very few of the performances brought any charm or life to them. I actually thought the Game of Thrones girl was the worst, all of her lines fell flat to me. My main problem with this film is that we have one hour and 20 minutes for a first act, 10 minutes for a second act and then the third act is the last hour. It was so miss paced I had a hard time getting into it. They should have made the second act of Apoc going after Charles, X men trying to protect him, then the third act Apoc gets him and then they have to save him to save the world. It's kind of what happened but the 10 minute sequence where that does happen should have been a good hour or so, really let us feel the dread of Apoc coming and the X Men trying to hide Professor X instead of Apoc getting his band together where NO ONE is trying to stop him. That's my 2 cents.

im just a fan of the cartoon and the earlier movies, this movie is a mess. it actually WAS worse than BVS as far as plot goes.

I think the only saving grace is that the actors in this were more likable than BVS and it had some humor (from quicksilver) and Apocalypse was bretty cool

But as far as story, I think I hated the story on this more. And this movie is more pretentious than BVS.

This movie is bad on its own 2 feet.

"Defending" this movie on terms of "fun"... is like that time some people, I swear to god some people defended Gods of Egypt like that...

If Oscar Isaac is such an amazing actor, how is it that McAvoy and Fassbender deliver stellar performances inspite of the garbage they are given, whereas Apocalypse' character in the entire film is portrayed as a 1-bit Scooby Doo villain?

I haven't seen anything from him to suggest he was worthy of the part to begin with.

Problem here are the split licenses although MCU is doing a great job around those limitations.

So what? Camera tricks, CGI, whatever, do you think Hobbits were really 2 feet tall? He could've done a decent Apoc IF they wanted him to.

Yeah there were better choices for the role but the role didn't fail because of his performance, it failed because EVERYTHING but his performance.

This I can agree with.

I enjoyed it. I went in expecting it to be bad, but thought it was pretty good. It's no DOFP, but I liked it.
