Since it was 1983 how had Jean already come to the realization that the third film is always the worst? Based on what? Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo and Friday the 13 Part III?

Maybe she saw Rocky 3 or Escape from Planet of the Apes (3)? I'm sure there are more film franchises with at least 3 films before 1983. Maybe she didn't like The Good the Bad and the Ugly :lol

Escape from the Planet of the Apes was better received than Beneath.

Rocky III was sweet.

Herbie 3 had Don Knotts (awesome.)

F13 III introduced the hockey mask (awesome.)

Like jye said it wasn't really a "thing" until about the early 90's when people started tallying up ROTJ, Thunderdome, TLC, Lethal Weapon 3, Alien 3, etc.

Maybe Jean Grey is where that "thing" started :lol I always hated her. :cuss

I want Singer to answer for this.

That's where you lost me.

Just because you're watching a CBM doesn't mean you can't expect a serious tone and a meaningful, impacting story.

TDK proved that eight years ago.

Well the movie you described and wanted sounded sucky to me.... It's like saying Raiders of the Lost Ark would have been better if Marion died.... Just for drama / impact sake.

I mentioned the "comic book" aspect of the film because people have been bragging up X-men like they are Shakespeare and Marvel is just a step above a Michael Bay movie...

So because it wasn't some "serious" drama that you have convinced yourself as being the only form a superhero movie needs to be it is just shallow nonsense?

Lots of great shallow Nonsense out there... Raiders / Star Wars / Die Hard / Aliens / Superman / etc.....

Well, for me the movie was great.

:goodpost::lecture

I respect that.

I liked it. Saw it twice.

What bothers me is that I saw a better movie in there, that the MCU's signature of inconsequential solo films prevented from happening.

This is basically the equivalent of Nolan not killing Harvey Dent at the end of TDK and allowing a great story to feel complete in an effort to save Two Face for future sequels.

I figured they wouldn't kill Cap 30 minutes in when I realized this movie was more about Tony finally facing the man who killed his parents rather than facing Steve Rogers. Sadly, they robbed Tony of a massive victory and closure to 25 years of grief. Not to mention, Cap's psychological aftermath to seeing Tony kill Bucky would have completely destroyed that relationship. No apology letter could repair that.

Killing Dent was a mistake because we ended up with the crappy TDKR ;) Which would have been better with two Face. Plus killing the Bad guy tends to happen all the time because it's the safe thing that Audiences want.... You have to "punish" the bad guy. Fact is Joker is the only "main" villain that makes it. IMO that was more daring then killing him off... Nolan kills off all the other bad guys with the exception of Scarecrow (who is nothing more then a cameo in all three films) ... You know.

Having Tony kill Bucky would not be victory for Tony... Killing a man who did not know what he was doing and had no control over what he did (yet lived with the guilt because he remembered all the acts) would have been murder... Not justice. Fact is it's better dramatically that he did not get his revenge... Revenge he never knew he wanted mind you, until he saw the video. So it's not like he was "finally" confronting the man who killed his parents... He just found out. He thought they died in an auto accident.

You want a destroyed relationship with Tony and Cap. Well it would be dramatic that's for sure... It would also undermine Thanos and the IW that is coming... We would have to spend a whole film on those two hating each other. Blah... I would rather watch Infinity War.

I get what you are saying... I guess there are enough other films to give me what you want... Marvel is doing a great job of making Kick ass action films with our fav hero's... I watch how Wrong DC's Batman vs Superman gets it by trying to be deep and I am thankful Marvel has a formula that works.

Reported for posting that.

20 years later, that singer has to look even more like hammered ****.
