Yeah the dark knight and Logan are waaaayyy to good and universally loved not to have that strange backlash of being called overrated.

Yeah it's quite strange to not be blinded by fanboyism to look at it critically. Crazy amirite?

Nah it's just a great movie. Plenty of problems, way too long , bales goofy voice. But Nolan made a great movie regardless of those things. He did what he's good at so well, that things he was bad at (action, overly poetic dialogue, strangely funny extras ) can't possibly drag the movie down until an overly critical 100th viewing. The movie was an event. Something like that won't happen again

I agree with all that. But distance from the release has soured it for me. It's never a film I seek out. Once was enough. I think people are too attached to their first viewing nearly 10 years ago.

True it was quite the exciting event....thanks to Ledger.

But it was, no doubt about that.

At least you point out Nolan’s weakness with action.

Now you ready for this?

IW has absolutely not only matched the excitement level of TDK but I think it’s actually surpassed it.

Would you like a valium now. :lol

I'm just not sure about that. The best thing about it is that is does not rely on cheap thrills . I doesn't rely on ****** cgi action that was impressive "back then" it doesn't rely on " oh look spiderman and iron man ... together !" . It's not the first batman movie we saw in a long time. It's a movie that is good because of characters and plot. Those things will still be impressive when my kids in the future see it for the first time.

To each his own. I admit it's good, but I don't think it's that good. Is it going to be a timeless film like the Burton film? Probably.

My problem isn't Nolan's directing or anything, it's just creative and plot choices.

Yeah infinity war is like that ****** crossover event comic book with a shiny cover and all the heroes on the cover shooting the big bad guy with laser beams. Eh I'd flip through it and put it back on the shelf or possibly get it for my kid to shut them up. Dark knight is like that first comic book that you read and loved and said "wow ! I never in a million years thought comics were this good? Maybe I'll start reading more ". But that's just my opinion

If the TDK didn't have Batman and Joker in it, it'd be just another heist movie

Ledger passing was a shame , and I agree it added hype. I absolutely don't think it made the movie the event that it was.

Heist movie ??? We're we watching the same thing.... and guess what ?? The whole point is that BATMAN and JOKER WERE IN IT ! Duh

I remember there was a lot of hype for TDK months before Ledger's passing. The online marketing was good, the first teaser trailer was popular, and I remember watching I Am Legend in theaters just to watch the first TDK trailer. People were clapping in my theater. It was very cool :D

You know, I just watched part of TDK the other night on HBO and... it was kind of hokey. Two-Face felt really out of place with that ridiculously savage wound. Batman looked strange in that gothic get-up soaring over bright and modern skyscrapers. Joker faired the best, but even he grew tiresome at times with his soliloquies -- people gave him way too long to speak so many times. Of course, Ledger still elevated that CSI episode to the master-class level the film attained.
