C'mon, I bet you were hoping that X3 was erased from the continuity too. I'm just a bit disappointed that this film will follow that story and that they'll have to take time with those crazy stupid explanations.

Yeah i'd prefer it wasn't counted, but it is what it is.

To me the easiest explainations would be for them to show that Jean simply transported them to another continent. Logan went native shortly after X3 so doesn't know that Xavier returned not from the dead but from another country.

Scott and Charles are back, badadbing.

Colda swore that Marsden was seen on set fro DOFP, they might bring him back too

If they're going to erase X3, DOFP is the place to do it, just cause a diversion in time between X2 and X3 and have none of the X3 crap happen, badda bing badda boom, Cyclops and Bobby Ewing are alive and Prof X is no longer dust.

They would need to keep Logan having to kill Jean so it diesn't contradict The Wolverine.

I read somewhere that Wolverine in The Wolverine isn't the same one. So they could keep him killing Jean and retcon the rest around it and The Wolverine is set after the time-shuffling.

I have faith that Singer will clean it up, maybe not erfectly but he'll fix some of the discrepencies.

Not neccessarily. The Wolverine could be set after X3 chronologically but be after the altered timeline changes that DOFP will set. So the events of X3 could have played out differently for The Wolverine. The only thing brought over is Jeans death.

Well it's open to interpretation, all Logan said was "how is this possible?" that could refer to Xaviers current "death" in X3 or something else befalling Xavier if they change the timeline around The Wolverine.

The fact of the matter is, most of the movies dont match properly for one reason or another.

Thats true. I'm not saying they do, but there are areas where it's open to interpretation and areas where you can ignore and areas where it just doesn't match no matter what.

Depends for me on the scene.

For instance in X1 when Xavier states Magneto helps him build Cerebro. That is contradicted by McCoy building it in XFC, but Xavier could refer to Magneto helping him build a version of Cerebro sometime between meeting in in 1962 and X1 which could occur. Emma in Origins was never called Emna Frost in the movie, but Emma Frost in XFC was and she was a different age and close to the comic character so i view them as two seperate characters.

Even with all these things that don't match up, the thing that bothers me the most would be the characters used in FC. That was the perfect time to reboot the franchise with the real first class instead of the random characters and alternate versions of characters.

Option A

Retcon the timeline as far as 1973 thus being able to see Jean and Scott joining the X-Men and change the histories of characters so they are free to use.

Option B

Set up two series, the 70's X-Men movies and the modern cast in an alternate timeline series of movies

Either way it'll be exciting.

I think they should just use DoFP to sort of reboot the whole thing. That way they can still use actors/characters that work but have one timeline that works from there on out. They should set it up for a blue team/gold team type thing or an uncanny xmen type thing. By setting it up in DoFP it could work perfectly!
