Oh wait, or did that not happen until the 80s, I cant remeber, Origins is too awful to try to recall. I guess if it did that'd be even better because they can retcon all of Origins out of existance.
In Old Man Logan Wolverine meets Emma Frost in the future and she looks exactly the same. Wolverine wonders why this is and she explains that she is making him see what she wants him to see.
I think this is how Professor Xavier managed to become resurrected. He is inside that comatose patient in a wheelchair but he is projecting his image into everybody's mind.
Ever since we heard the next X-Men movie would be an adaptation of the classic Days of Future Past storyline, it was clear that Sentinels would be involved. And we did get confirmation of those giant, mutant-killing robots at Comic-Con this month when a big Sentinel head showed up on the streets of San Diego. But now, the viral site for the film, Trask-Industries.com, has evolved from just a landing page to a full-blown in-universe history of the movie version of the automatons. Some possible very mild spoilers follow for the film.
"Trask Industries continues to uncover new ways to control the mounting X-gene threat," reads the pseudo-corporate site. "In 1973, Trask Industries introduced the first Sentinel production model, the Mark I. Bolivar Trask’s groundbreaking research in AI, robotics and autonomous ballistic systems laid the foundation for the world's most capable anti-mutant defense system. Since the program's inception, we’ve continued to advance our founder's cause through eight additional generational upgrades and enhancements."
That last line will no doubt alleviate some fan concerns that the head we saw in San Diego was too small. Have some faith, guys! Plus, there is mention of a next-stage Mark X Sentinel being rolled out (apparently in the year 2020, which might give us a hint as to when the "future" part of the film takes place). There's also talk (and imagery) of an Inhibitor Collar, which is certainly something any mutant should fear...

As we celebrate five decades of achievement, we also bid farewell to regular production of the Mark I and shift our efforts to full-time manufacturing of the Mark X — our first complete overhaul of the Sentinel line. These highly anticipated units will combine next-generation nanotechnology and bioweapon breakthroughs, promising an even brighter future for the human race.

I wonder if they will actually go to the lengths of resolving these possible continuity issues. For some matters they will probably consider that not many would actually be scrutinizing these details expect hardcore fans. Of course there is no way they can tie up all loose ends, but I do hope they plan to address at least some of them in the movie.
