I think you're both reinforcing my point, that weak justifications could be made for anything they want to do. But just because it's usually done doesn't mean it has to be done. Would a guy dressed like Batman seriously create more fear in criminals than some guy just wearing a regular black military uniform and ski mask who beat the **** out of people in the dark all the time? I don't think so. Capes make zero sense if you want a realistic justification for something, but you'll never see Superman or Batman without one.

The cape did make sense though for Batman, and so did the whole Bat get up. He wanted Batman to be a symbol, and theatrical. It all fit in to what Ra’s was teaching him.

Holy crap! Hugh looks like a beast. I like it.

So Rogue has a cover too... is she in the movie then? Can't wait to see Sunspot, Iceman, Storm and Rogues covers.

They probably had given Rogue the material to Empire before she was cut. Empire probably will run it so they don't have to cut it to 24.

Yeah, they said the cape was so he could fall slowly, but it's completely unrealistic. If he really had a cape, then the first time he runs across three guys, one of them grabs it, he can't move forward or maneuver out of the way, and he gets stabbed in the face. Or he trips jumping off a building and breaks his neck. It's weak. And yet the audience is OK with it. Why? Because, I say, they don't really care.

I agree with pturtle and UWS about the costumes. At least the film makers have attempted to give a reason for the costumes, and I as a movie goer appreciate that. It helps me get into the movie. I've been a comic book reader literally since before I could read (last year ;)). I started around 1976 and always gravitated towards Marvel. But even as a comic fan, I'm not willing to blindly accept that a super powered being is going to be wearing a colorful costume in movies. I appreciate it when the screenwriter at least TRIES to give a reason.

That's true, but that is just looking way too
Much into. His cape is needed as essential not only his design but how he travels.

It's not
Like cap who has no secret identity but still wears a mask and a suit that protects him from nothing, or has any perks other than he wears it in the comics. It works in the marvel films only because those movies are mostly just dumb fun summer blockbusters.

The X-Men, Batman, Spiderman franchises are in a more grounded realistic world, so it isn't really okay for
Someone to just dress up like its Halloween and fight crime. It wouldn't fit with the tone of the film.

:duff

Even the terrible FF films explained the reason for their suits.

But, right now, they're all dressed like clowns anyway. Is anyone looking at those Empire magazines and thinking, "man, that Quicksilver and Toad look amazing!"? And I think a casual audience will be attracted to a comic accurate Wolvie just like they're attracted to a comic accurate Superman, or something close to it. The Superman outfit doesn't really have a good justification. "It's the suit of his alien heritage" is a justification after the fact. The cape is silly, it's blue, red, and yellow, but if Superman just had his all black and silver outfit he wore returning from the dead, no one would like it.

Nova is. :lecture:lecture:lecture :lol

Honestly, THAT and possibly a couple group shot of each "generation" as the exclusives, are the only variants they should've done.

So quicksilver's reason is because he's silver and quick. And toad looks like an idiot with his mohawk and goggles because that's what toads wear.... :cuckoo: Yeah, a lot of "trying" happened there. :lol
