That makes sense, but lets be honest, a talking raccoon and tree is hard to top no matter what.

Not really. Wolverine and Sentinels? Stewart, McKellen and Jackman returning PLUS the First Class cast? The fact that two silly CGI characters of a walking, talking raccoon and tree are generating more excitement than this validates the point every "blind hater" (despite us seeing it all) has made.

Who said it is though? Almost every poll on every website has DOFP as not just the most anticipated superhero movie of the year, but the most anticipated movie of the year.

Once the GA sees a talking Raccoon and Tree with two A list stars voicing them and it’s a marvel movie it will start to blow up. I still think DOFP is taking this summer though.

Both will perform better in the box office than Captain America if the reviews are good.

Proof?

We'll see. The X-Men franchise as a whole hasn't even been able to break the $460mil mark. I'd like to see it pass that, but I haven't seen anything that has even convinced me it'll do better than The Wolverine. I'd give GotG the slight advantage given it has the hype of the MCU behind it and neither will beat Cap (which they're calling the first movie of the summer :monkey1).

:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:rotfl No. Just looking at the numbers IM3 and Dark World have pulled in (over $630mil each), Winter Soldier's set to at least hit that if not surpass it since this will be the direct tie-in for Avengers 2. Based on that, not a ****ing chance in hell.

In DOFP, the Sentinels don't kill mutants, they keep them from marrying each other.

Supposedly Robocop's crappy black rubber suit didn't have any negative impact on the movie, hopefully these crappy costumes from DOFP won't get in the way of the story.

Can't see it performing as well as both of those movies overseas. GOTG has the fresh idea, and star power to be huge. Comparing DOFP to Wolverine box office numbers is insane. It has everything needed to be a billion dollar movie. Only thing missing right now are the reviews and word of mouth.

Cap is lacking star power in my opinion and doesn't look to be as grand.

We'll see. Statistically speaking though, all you have is hope. Again, I'd love to see it succeed because that means we'll still get X-Men movies and hopefully in a broader sense given how many options they have with X-Factor, X-Force, and solo spinoffs with Wolverine, Deadpool, etc. But historically, the license just hasn't had the "oomph." Even when you look at FC, it was the second lowest performing of the whole franchise, so it really doesn't bring much to the table. It's Jackman and the rest of the older cast from the originals, FOX is banking on.

As for Cap, again, it's a direct tie-in to Avengers 2 and will be the last Marvel film to do so (as GotG is setting up Phase 3). Redford's no schlep in Hollywood, then you have Jackson and Johassen returning, plus the intro of Falcon. There's all kinds of reasons as to why it very well could easily do better than IM3 and Thor.

At the time FC came out most of the stars weren't even close to being as big as they are now. FC was also coming after 2 horrible XMen films.

How about this Nam, let's make a bet.

If DOFP does better numbers at the Box office, you Can't insult anyone on SSF for a month. Are you that confident in TWS?

And if I win? :dunno You don't bring anything to the table. :rotfl

Up to you what you have in mind for me.

Again, you really bring ZERO to the table. But I tell you what. If First Class actually beats Cap, which it won't, I'll pay for your ticket to see GotG. If I win, you pay for mine. That way, win or loose, we both get to enjoy some awesome comic book movies. :wink1:

Well, it's also the fact that unlike Singer, they don't try to avoid the source material -- they embrace it. And are you kidding me? X-Men has a TON of characters that would be visually brilliant, if Singer wasn't focused like a laser on how to subdue everyone. Pretty sure he looks at something like GotG and finds it too outlandish and wishes it were more grounded. :rolleyes2
