I kinda expect that too but the problem is how can Jackman quit without wolverine leaving? Because whatever happens, he seems to be a continuation in all versions.

If they bring cyclops back right when wolverine leaves I will strangle a unicorn.

So if they save JFK, does that mean we get to see an alternate future version in leather?

The perfect cameo for this film? Longshot and Dazzler.

Tell me Quicksilver doesn't look Molvanian!

I think they're making it in a way where Hugh's Wolverine can still exist but that's it for the older characters. People are speculating that Wolverine 3 will be based off of Old Man Logan. I don't know if they can make that story work onscreen due to the lack of characters Fox can use, but it be a nice way to retire Hugh's Wolverine.

My overall point is more that Hugh's not gonna do many of these movies I think. So there's only two possibilities: either wolverine is recast at some point into a timeline in which Hugh existed. Or Wolverine won't have much of a role anymore, at least for a while.

I dislike both...

I don't mind the recast, I love him in the role, but he's been doing this for 14 years, he's had a great run, casting someone else to continue Wolverine in this universe wouldn't bother me one bit.

I agree, and do hope they don't shy away from a classic costume when it happens. It would be a nice way of distinguishing this Wolverine, and at the same time embracing the fantastic costumes in the way Marvel Studios, Sony, and WB even seem to have no real problem with.

If Hugh retires from the role I think the choices are - continue with the First Class cast for however long those actors want to do it and have NO Wolverine OR do a complete reboot with all new actors like many here want and make it much closer to the comics.

I don't want to see Wolverine played by someone else in this particular movie continuity, I think Hugh owns in that much.

Agreed. He has made these movies in my opinion. I'm glad he seems to be the focus character in this film.

A-dev and Snoop you exactly hit the nail of what my point was. Recasting wolverine within the same franchise continuity? Sorry, I'm gonna say no to that. That is too weird to pull off. Hugh Jackman is about 90% of the reason why they didn't reboot this in the first place.

It's the ultimate irony that the guy who plays the slowest ageing character and has a film literally about him not being able to die, is the one casting the shadow of death over this franchise now. If Jackman quits, this thing is over. I can't see anyone else having enough appeal to give Fox an excuse not to reboot this. It's all on Jackman. And it has always been so from the first film onward. Even the film he only had one cameo in was as it was, because of him.

When Jackman quits, he cancels the validation of this franchise for the majority of fans as well as for the money-people at Fox. And then Fox will do what they didn't have the balls for in 2011.

Okay, so I'm kinda looking at actors who could replace Hugh Jackman, I've never been able to think of even one... and then this site recommended... Tom Hardy...

And you know, if he can do a canadian accent, that might actually be really awesome. Forget Bane, he's a ****ing BEAST in Warrior. And he has a dry sense of wit. He;s the right size I'd say. Has a dark voice, if he wants anyway.

:lol

Can anybody mention any actor they could see replacing Jackman, assuming a full reboot?

I want another unknown for wolverine no for hardy I don't wanna hear his bane voice .

Dude have you heard Hardy speak in interviews? His nomal voice can be really deep, nothing like Bane. Watch Warrior if you haven't man.

Warrior was great but I don't want him as wolverine get a lesser unknown.

I actually think he would be awesome, but something about him being Bane would bother me. Still I would welcome him, as of right now I can't think of anyone better.

You know? Right now I can tell he would be a LOT better Wolverine than Jackman, better actor, he's short and a lot bulkier than Jackman, he would be a great pick.

Either him or get an unknown short muscle man.

You seem to really not be a fan of Hugh Gasp, haha. I like Hardy a lot, and I think he can definitely make for a better Logan, but I don't know if he's a better actor.

I like the guy, he's great and he really loves the character to the point of throwing his own money at XO:W as producer, but I just don't see that much Wolverine in him anymore although maybe it's not his fault, he does seem better in this movie though.

And I'll be bitter about not seeing him in his suit forever.

I definitely think there can be a better Wolverine impersonator casted, but I like what he brings to the role. With or without him I'll still enjoy the series, but Tom Hardy does seem perfect after looking at that pic.
