What do you consider a purist, because didn't you kind of answer you question, since it veers from the source? I'm kidding, but I'm sick of these Man-babies complaining about every superficial thing. They don't care about anything other than aesthetics. I don't understand how they can rip on the source material, but if the movie takes from it, it's automatically gold, or if it veers from it, it's crucified. I hate the notion of "It's a good detective or sci-fi movie, but because it's a bad superhero movie, the film is garbage." It's the same with any adaptation from books. It seems like the first thing that the comic book movie is judged by is the costume. That's where all the "Hero A" vs "Hero B" fights come from. I thought they were heroes. Why the heck would they be fighting? They boil these fantastic characters to costumes and superpowers. Then again it makes sense for when you hear all these death threats and perverse comments from "fans," since they obviously aren't getting a message out of these heroic stories. I'm not accept the opinion of how Superman's heroic nature should be from someone, whose mean and disrespectful because I have a different opinion about a fictitious character, you know? There's so many horror stories that comic book writers deal with every-time they try to change the characters.
Quicksilver isn't what? For the love of............Where's my gun? Kidding! We'll have to see how they pull it off!
