Mel Gibson was offered the role of Wolverine in 97? I never knew that, here's concept art, looks awesome if you ask me, he looks like Logan ripped out of the comics.

Anyone know how tall Mel is?

Why were Australians only being looked at to play Wolverine? Haha

Weird. As for why Aussies were pursued, there seems to be long-standing confusion in non-comic media that Wolverine is from Australia and not Canada.

Holy **** there's people who actually think Wolverine IS an aussie? Ugh... They need to stick an easter egg in that he's Canadian.

Also, I just came across this Quicksilver trailer, it's a bit more spoilery though, so to make sure it's not clicked by accident I'm gonna hide it:

All I can say is that no matter how cool he might be, I still wonder highly whether the more purist fans of him are going to accept him...

I actually kinda think he looks a little like Fassbender facially, I really hope he's his son, even if the film doesn't confirm it.

People are *****es. This thing could get reviews touting it as the next Dark Knight, and people would still rag on it because it's from Fox.

Of course, marvel studios is the new cool kid on the playground. Don't you realise yet all of this is mostly just a schoolyard for 5-15 year olds?

On a more serious note, Jackman is confirmed for Apocalypse and is apparently shooting Wolverine 3 back to back to it to come afterward. I'd bet Wolverine 3 sets up X-force.

On an even more serious note, it's a 100% confirmed Quicksilver is NOT Magneto's son? Cause **** that.

Damn, Jackman is never going to get to enjoy those cheat meals he has planned...

What do you consider a purist, because didn't you kind of answer you question, since it veers from the source? I'm kidding, but I'm sick of these Man-babies complaining about every superficial thing. They don't care about anything other than aesthetics. I don't understand how they can rip on the source material, but if the movie takes from it, it's automatically gold, or if it veers from it, it's crucified. I hate the notion of "It's a good detective or sci-fi movie, but because it's a bad superhero movie, the film is garbage." It's the same with any adaptation from books. It seems like the first thing that the comic book movie is judged by is the costume. That's where all the "Hero A" vs "Hero B" fights come from. I thought they were heroes. Why the heck would they be fighting? They boil these fantastic characters to costumes and superpowers. Then again it makes sense for when you hear all these death threats and perverse comments from "fans," since they obviously aren't getting a message out of these heroic stories. I'm not accept the opinion of how Superman's heroic nature should be from someone, whose mean and disrespectful because I have a different opinion about a fictitious character, you know? There's so many horror stories that comic book writers deal with every-time they try to change the characters.

Quicksilver isn't what? For the love of............Where's my gun? Kidding! We'll have to see how they pull it off!

Put blue dye on him, he would look killer as Beast.

Well what did you think of Kelsey Grammer as Beast? I haven't seen the movies since the theater, so I don't remember how he did, but I would think it was great casting.

Wow man, nice find, didn't know that, he certainly looks the part amazingly in that concept.

When all is said and done it's going to be a long time before anyone ever comes close to Jackman's character appearances in a starring role in a CBM. I mean after him you've got what, a few people tied at 4? (Im talking single character, not the fact that Chris Evans has played half a million comic book characters, hes obviously the overall CBM king) Most of the ones at 4 are probably burnt out and Jackman doesn't even seem to be slowing down. The man's a machine.

I remember thinking Grammer did a great job with Beast. It has been a while since I've seen the film as well, but I think that still holds true.

I'm no fan of Grammer, but even I have to admit he was pretty good as Beast, I think his voice was a good match for Hank.

He can't sell Beast's intellectual side though.

But he at one point at the very least really must wear a more CB accurate costume.

True, I feel his facial features in combination with the make-up/cgi really did the trick for the appearance too imo.

Looks more the part in that sketch than Jackman :dunno.

In fact he could still make a perfect old man Logan or even a TDKReturns Batman, too bad he's a dbag.

Regardless, just saw the QS trailer, and it's looking fantastic, if this movie is as good as it seems, it may renew my faith in Fox having this franchise.

I think it looks fantastic! I really like Mel Gibson movies. His performance in Chicken Run was breath-taking! I'm just kidding. Braveheart is my favorite of his. He does look like TDKR Bruce and Old Man Logan! Nice call!

He's been confirmed!?!?!! QS is all but confirmed to be in Apocalypse, and Kinberg said they might explore their father/son relationship in the future, so I'm guessing we have until 2016.

It’s a sad world we live in.

It’s crazy, I'm a huge fan of the series and I've never even heard about this. I’m a huge fan of Mel Gibson, that picture looked exactly like Wolverine from his Origin comics to me. Also reminds me how his hair should be, instead of styled like Jackman’s.
