it seems that no matter how good, Fox-Men will never be without timeline/continuity errors.

Derp derp derp possible minor spoilers included
"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" 1973
- William Stryker is a Colonel in the US military and head of Team X, a secret military-funded mutant strike force.
- Wolverine is still in Vietnam with his brother Victor, getting arrested for attacking a senior officer, being sentenced to firing squad, and remaining in military custody in Vietnam when Stryker approaches him.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" 1973
- William Stryker is part of a corporately-owned force employed by Trask Industries. He's not affiliated with the military at all (Mystique states that fact Vietnam while disguised as a military officer at the US base in Vietnam).
- Wolverine is NOT in Vietnam, instead living in New York working for some organized crime family.

W: Origins is the one that the subsequent films have most explicitly thumbed their noses at. The most obvious thing was using Emma Frost in a completely different way.

I'm not sure, but is Origins actually canon? I don't remember seeing or hearing anything about that movie in DOFP.

Well they showed some scenes of Wolvie being injected with adamantium, but it seems like we saw flashbacks to that in other X-films as well, prior to Origins being made.

the only problem with origins ( i'm refering to the timeline, instead of it just being a ****** movie) is that the events of Wolverine Origins take place AT THE SAME TIME as this film. so... more plot holes.

Nothing new, the series has been plagued by them for a while. it's just funny that a mistake like this was made.

alternatively, if wolverine has his memories, and dosn't have his adamantium, then its a non-issue.

Exactly, which why I’m not sure Origins is actually canon.

I doubt it was a mistake, so much as their willfully ignoring, really anything that happened in Origins. Because again, that's what happened with First Class. Singer and Vaughn were like, "That's how they portray Emma Frost, in that lame ass POS movie? **** that ****."

Yeah I don't think DOFP directly referenced 'Origins' like it did X3. I don't think The Wolverine did either (Jean was dead according to that film too). I think Origins has been disregarded completely.

I'm fine with Origins being thrown out the window. :lol I knew something was up, but hey, I'll take it. I don't quite recall if The Wolverine was directly referenced, I remember the other ones being referenced though.

I was actually thinking of that, which on level is disappointing (Schreiber was much cooler IMO), but on the other level isn't so bad, as X1 Sabretooth was more comic accurate than Origins Sabretooth, based on the comics I'm familiar with. He was nothing approaching a civilized human being, who could pass as such in many situations. He was a vicious, sadistic beast. I wouldn't mind seeing more of the Marauders version of Sabretooth in future film(s).

I don't even know when the Wolverine was supposed to take place, except that it is after Weapon X and seems reasonably modern. And does the ending sequence where he runs into Prof. X and Magneto at the airport make any sense considering DOFP?

I need Magneto from this. It was so refreshing to see a young Magneto being such a badass, tossing Wolverine away like a ragdoll.

'So much for being a survivor.'

Weren't Origins scenes used in the flashbacks? At the end of the movie it said something to the effect of X men Origins footage used with permission. Also when you see Bill Duke was half his height and white in the 70s, you really should be ready to accept there are going to be some continuity errors that you just have to live with. :lol

Yeah. I can't buy that there would be two different people called Bolivar Trask, they were undoubtedly intended as the same character. I wish they'd go back to the first 3 films and go George Lucas on them to address these **** ups properly. Rename Bill Duke's character in X3 with some dialogue editing (aswell as changing the name in the end credits) among other things.

The only scene used from Origins fits in with Wolverine’s X1/X2, nothing else was mentioned from Origins, and like Lerath mentioned, Wolverine should be at during that time, and Stryker’s age and status doesn’t match. I don’t think Origins is canon.

I still think the Bill Duke thing is an easy retcon, his first name is never mentioned in X3, their last name is literally the only thing they share.

There isn’t though, he’s only called Trask in X3. Even in the credits, he’s listed as Trask only.

Except it doesn't matter what he's billed as, Singer has already said they're the same character and people just have to learn to accept that stuff like that will happen. I don't blame him, he's already stated he has enough trouble keeping up with his own continuity errors (like the age they met) why would he want to chase everyone else's tails too?

“Some things you let go,” Singer admits. “In X-Men 3 Bolivar Trask was an African-American guy, in X-Men 1 I personally wrote the line that of course I now regret: ‘When I was 17, I met a young man named Erik Lensherr’ and then in X-Men: First Class I changed that!” he laughs.
