Next movie, we learn that the Russians were after a new mutant group in Afghanistan in the 80s known as the Mujahideen and one of their young soldiers was a mutant known as Osama Bin Laden. :horror

I don't see how it's a stretch, we're given a vague explanation on what actually happened.

Obviously they need find away to keep Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique relevant. I have no clue where they plan on going with that, but I'm sure it because she needs to have a big enough role to bring her die hard fan base over to watch Apocalypse.

Perhaps Logan winds up getting his adamantium groove on as one of Apocalypse's horsemen?

We can all agree that X-Men DOFP is a fantastic film . . . except for the JFK assassination subplot.

The breakout sequence with Quicksilver is one of my favorite parts of the film. My only quibble is that Magneto is in there because of JFK. Made no sense. I also had an issue with the film ending on "Stryker Mystique". That was ****ing dumb and an unnecessary "oh snap" twist. One, how and why did Mystique find Logan in the river? What does she care? Two, the film was *this* close to making sense with the future (even though in X2, it's implied Stryker and Logan go way back). Mystique had pretty much the whole plot of the story revolving around her, did she really need to be involved with this too? Now things are going to get really weird.

Yup, some of us here were thinking that's a possibility, but I still don't know where that leaves Mystique. I'm guessing she'll be using Logan as a bargaining chip, just don't know for what yet.

I personally think they should keep Mystique at the very least in the "grey" area now, and I just can't see her handing Wolverine over to Stryker, given how emotional she was over Trask's treatments of fellow mutants. That would be pretty sloppy given her character development in this film and would render it rather pointless and make it feel very contrived for the sake of the plot.

They wanted this plot, they did it. They need to see it through. Not try to line it up with some future that cannot exist as it originally did.

International numbers:

Maleficent rounded out the Top Five with an estimated $13 million, which is off just 30 percent from last weekend. The movie has so far earned $186 million, and is on track to close north of $215 million. That will make it one of the biggest hits of the Summer, ahead of movies like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Godzilla.

X-Men: Days of Future Past crossed $690 million worldwide this weekend. By this time next week, it will be well past $700 million, and it will soon become the highest-grossing movie of 2014 ahead of Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($711 million).

Because ASM 2 made the least of all the Spidey films while DOFP made the most out of all the X-Men films. Apocalypse could hit a billion if it turns out as good as DOFP. Also Sony spent way too much on marketing, that's what really killed them.

DOFP won't be number 1 for too long since Transformers is coming out soon, but beating out a Marvel Studios film and Spider-Man is incredible, glad to see the X-men franchise doing so well.

If Nam ever returns I hope he pays me what he rightfully owes me!!!

Don't be upset Khev. In life, there are winners and losers. And if not for losers like Winter Soldier, winners like DOFP wouldn't know how great it was to be a winner. And for that, Winter Soldier deserves appreciation.

And I laugh so hard at Spider-Man 2 and its measly $702 million. Pathetic. Makes me want to throw up.
