Seriously though, despite the availability of licensed products, I can't imagine the revenue from that is so great for the Cap film. Probably a small fraction of what you get from Iron Man, and an even smaller fraction from what you get from Spider-Man. But yeah, at least they produced products from it.

Oh I know, I was just making up numbers obviously. There's no way that Cap is a hundreds of millions type of merchandise character. I do wish we got some Lego sets out of it though. Can't really complain otherwise with all the cool HT figures on the way.

They did get Minimates. I know lots of folks don't care for the design of those figures, but they are actually some of the cooler Minimates released recently.

International numbers:

Maleficent rounded out the Top Five with an estimated $13 million, which is off just 30 percent from last weekend. The movie has so far earned $186 million, and is on track to close north of $215 million. That will make it one of the biggest hits of the Summer, ahead of movies like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Godzilla.

X-Men: Days of Future Past crossed $690 million worldwide this weekend. By this time next week, it will be well past $700 million, and it will soon become the highest-grossing movie of 2014 ahead of Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($711 million).

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but where is this information coming from?

I only ask because between these two films, he/she is talking about a difference of 50 million dollars.

Maleficent has to make another 29 million to get to 215 million, and DoFP has to make another 21 million to be even with WS, and at least 22 million to be the highest grosser of 2014.

Transformers is also coming out this week, so those films are going to lose some business, as well as theatre space.

From what I gather, he/she is assuming that because they only fell 30% this week, it's a lock that they're only going to fall 30% next week? How would anyone know that? It could be more, or less. No one will know that until next week.

Not to mention, what you're quoting starts with:"International Numbers", but the 186 mill is Maleficent's domestic gross, not foreign.

And what does, "well past 700 million" mean? 715, 725? Does it say?

I'm not doubting what was reported, I'm just wondering how they're arriving at those numbers.

I don't know, unless this writer has a crystal ball, I think both those estimates are a little too early to call.

I wish I didn't hate minimimates so much, they always have such a wide range of characters available, but I just can't get used to the way they look. They just remind me of Bizarro versions of Legos or Kubricks :lol

Those are pretty sweet. At least someone did a Batroc. :lol DOFP actually got minimates too right?
Yes, though they haven't been released yet. And not unlike First Class, these seem to be the only set of figures from this X-film, with the exception of the Select Mystique. You can get a set of 8 figures for $30, by the way. If I was a Winter Soldier Superfan, I might consider getting them to put on my office desk.

It seems that TWS was preferred among Cap fans and DOFP among X-fans which means that both films basically did their job. Though if I were to wager a guess I'd say that TWS won over more X-fans than the other way around.
Well I consider myself a fan of both. . .obviously I'm a bigger fan of the X-Men, though.
