Re: Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past

James McAvoy apparently revealed to Heat Radio that Alan Cumming will be returning as Nightcrawler in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Several cast members from previous films in the X-verse are returning, but just how involved they'll be in the new film is unknown, though it would seem these all may be just cameo roles more than anything else.

This movie is really starting to sound promising.

Re: Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past

I'm personally not excited that they just keep tacking more and more characters into this. Was Nightcrawler even in DOFP, I don't believe he was more than being mentioned as dead?

I rewatched the Animated Series episode last night and I can safely say I have no idea how this is going to work, Wolverine isn't the main character? This all already feels way too bloated tbh, it's like twice the size of the Avengers' cast.

I wanted more Fassbender and McAvoy and it feels like everyday they add a new cast member from Singer's stories thats only bound to detract time from that. This series literally just barely regained it's footing and now they're going right back to what killed it.

Just remember the way they kept adding characters to X3 and ask yourself how that turned out.

Re: Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past

Mcavoy said he doesn't have any scenes with Patrick Stewart, Singer has said the majority of the film is set in the 70s.

Put them together and it means the original cast will be restricted to a minority screentime.

X2 had twice the amount of characters as the Avengers and is not only one of the best CBM's ever but it juggled them all well ;)

I'm sure you'll see Stewart and McKellen and most of the original X-Men cast in the book-end scenes (beginning and end) to help draw the whole timeline story element full circle. I'm sure the majority will focus on McAvoy, Fassbender, Jackman and Page with characters like Storm, Mystique, Beast, Iceman, Rogue, etc. along for the ride and possibly "killed/captured" along the way due to the time disruption.

The original storyline actually alternates between present and past but I'm sure they're going to twist it up a little bit. Bishop could play a key role and possibly be the Mutant that helps the characters travel through time like he has in the comics.

There's a strong rumor too that Singer will use this movie's timeline plot to "right" the X-Men franchise after what happened with X-Men: The Last Stand. Meaning we could have Stewart back permanently as Professor X, Jean Grey and Cyclops back alive as well.

I'm really excited for this movie, especially with Bryan Singer in charge. He has been tremendously awesome with the other X-Men movies and one of the best directors for an ensemble cast. I'm sure 20th Century Fox has told him that they want this movie to be for them what "The Avengers" was for Marvel Studios.
