Don't most blu-ray players do that stuff...for a hell of a lot cheaper?

Here's one for $128:

...and you don't have to wait 2 months to get it. :lol

Yeah, if it's only meant for those things, I'd definitely recommend a cheap player from Wal-Mart or something. I see them under $100 all the time. If he insists on getting a console, he could buy the new 12 gig PS3 for $200.

With the Xbox at least your getting the Kinect & FIFA with it. Good deal IMO

Now that you don't need the Kinect I can't see it being that long until MS starts selling the One without it for a lower price

Fifa and Forza only for day one editions. Also they are re opening day 1 pre orders. I tried phoning game to get mine changed to a day 1 but they are impossible to get hold off. will have to go down there tomorrow.

Not long now. Bit surprised with the release date.

Also, to access Netflix and the like on Xbox you have to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Sounds cheaper to get an PS4, or better yet, another PS3, if you must have a console to watch movies.

I have 2 blu ray players, 2 tablets and 2 phones that I can get on Netflix with. It's not a huge deal to me

The point here though is that this person doesnt. He's looking for a single device to do all of his movie watching on. An Xbox One or PS4 are overkill for this IMO.

Well, my nearly 60-year old dad's launch PS3 just died (using it as a Blu-ray player). He's decided he's going to wait and replace it with an Xbox One over a PS4. Take that for what you will.

I'm still using the original ps3. For exclusives and blue-ray.

The just had an Xbox commercial on and literally showed all the features. Guess what the didnt show? Anything related to playing games. Wtf? :slap

MS still assuming they have gamers in their back pockets? Part of me hopes they are humbled on launch day. NOTHING about the Xbox one screams, 'must own' to me

I don't get it, so you need a commercial to know the Xbox is a gaming device?

Gamers know what it is and at this point the majority know what they want, so why advertise to them when you can advertise to the rest of the masses about all the other things you can use am Xbox for.

Commercials arent really for gamers like us. We know what the product is. It's for everyone else. The people who may actually need information like "by the way, it plays games too" There's more folks out there like that than most think.

BF4Central:

At the recent PAX event, DICE and EA were present to show off Battlefield 4. And so was Microsoft, who were eager to show the game on its new Xbox One console. Only Battlefield 4 actually ran on a high end PC with an Xbox One controller attached, with Microsoft trying to disguise the PC as an Xbox One console.

Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, the Xbox marketing guy, promised gamers at PAX a Battlefield 4 demo on the Xbox One. And Microsoft had set up several stations where players could play Battlefield 4 on the Xbox One. Sort of.

When players paused the game, a Windows mouse cursor appeared. Players could even exit to reveal a complete Windows 8 set up. And when someone peaked under the table, they found PC systems (as the image below shows). To make matters worse, the Battlefield 4 match was nothing like the 64-player matches set up at E3 and GamesCom. They were 8 vs 8 matches, with no weapons or accessories unlocked.
Last week, DICE revealed that Battlefield 4 actually runs at 720p on consoles (but still at 60 frames per second). Once again, PC players will get the definitive version of the game.

DICE recently said that they had “underestimated console” gamers. While PC gamers will still get the graphically best version of the game, the next-gen console versions will still include all the major multiplayer features, such as the new Commander mode and 64 player multiplayer.
