If you read the statements from the other day they say its up to the publishers if they are going to allow games to be re-sold, they are also working with their partners (Publishers) about lending and renting games. Also EA dropped the much hated Online Pass and then a week later at the Xbox event it announced they were partnering with Microsoft. MS also says that they don't require any fees for re-licensing a game but the publishers might. Sony may not have been willing to play ball and that's why right now were seeing a lot of deals in place with MS. Don't get me wrong, Microsoft built the damn machine they are the ones who chose this philosophy of anti consumerism to please the publishers, they are not innocent in this whole thing far from it.

I saw the statement but read it as a way to pass/share the blame IMHO. We shall see

I agree with that, I mean it could be completely up to them I doubt they would just come out and say Hey everybody you have to buy games twice!!! lol but then again they did hire people to clap and say YAY! at their press conference, yet they denied that and the always online then confirmed it. lol

My personal favorite thing is how everyone assumes that the ps4 isn't doing all this as well, simply becuase sony hasn't said they are.

But considering sony has told of PRACTICLY nothing anyways.... I'm more in the camp of expecting sony doing the exact same thing.

But the truth of it is, for now... we just don't know.

One thing I have decided to do from all of this news is......milk my Xbox 360 for as long as I can and see what happens the first year after the One is out. I wonder how long developers will continue to support the 360 for?

Also, keep your 360 games. Some of the greatest games in the history of gaming were released on this console generation. And it appears it may be the last console generation where we actually "own" the games. So cherish them.

That sounds so sad :monkey2

you mean it will watch the picture of Goatse I'll be putting over the camera 24/7. Might also disconnect the microphone, or put a tiny speaker over it that plays Baby Belluga 24/7. Or possibly my flea has dogs.

or that is the fact that you will not be able to power on the console without first enabling the Kinect, designed to detect both heartbeats and eye movement. and positioning yourself in front of it.

and that you must have 24/7 internet access (which your system can be accessed at anytime and all its functions can be completely accessed)

or that the future of buying video games will be download only (no actual physical game in your hand)

enjoy!

you can never turn off the microphone on the Kinect or disconnect it. It needs to be connected for Xbox to even turn on

kinect needs to be hooked up for teh station to work, nowhere have they said you must use it.

As for the Download only aspect of games, I'm a huge fan of steam, and actualy prefer this .

the way of privately played games is over! unless you stay retro or what is current now

That's why I'm going PS4 for that simple fact, and the whole online thing you can have it never be connected to wifi and it will be fine.

Ok... I'm going to put this out there, and it's a comment of a fairly sexual nature. But I think it needs to be brought up, and adressed, as people ARE thinking about it.

Males between the ages of 10-30 will play this thing. Some people have entertainment centers that already include Computers. I know I do.

Sometimes underage kids Look at porn, and /or do sexual things While looking at porn. It Happens. Deal with it.

By extension, this has set microsoft up to be the LARGEST collector of what amounts to child pronography in the world. As well as regular amature porn for that matter.

I wonder if they've thought that through

You must connect to the internet once a day. Your profile is still stored on your individual machine. You can choose to disable voice commands, and select it with gestures, OR a controller.
