Didn't you have this happen a bunch of times? If so I would find out if you have a lemon law in your area.

I know in Cali they have a lemon law that states that if something it sent in for the same thing 3 time you can request a replacement.

I would say that you don't want it repaired you want a brand new system if it has happened that many times. Because what happens when they stop covering this?

Well it' (only) the second time it has happened and there is some kind of law here in the netherlands to for it. A DHL driver is going to pick it up today and set it to the repair station. Now I just to wait and see.

Oh no! :crying

I hate seeing pics like this. It makes me very nervous when this happens as I have an Australian launch model and I have not had the "pleasure" of the red rings yet.

Even though my Xbox360 does not get turned on as much as my PS3 I feel that I am sitting on a timebomb here just waiting for the ineviatble :(

Hope you can get it sorted mate

Well im another victim of Microsoft rushing the Xbox onto the shelves with obvious problems that weren't fully tested.

I've had it for about 18 mths and noticed a few weeks ago dvd's randomly freezing.

Now it freezes when switched on before it even reaches the initial Xbox screen but occasionally gets past that and i have unfortunately had the red ring of NOOOOOOOOOOOOO just the once so far.

At least it seems to be a common problem and the warranty is guaranteed for 3 yrs so should be able to have it up and running in no time. Its all about the DOSH.

I am on my 5th xbox360 and surprisingly its been holding up pretty good, for about a year and a half now. I can't tell yet if mine will ever give out, usually I have an instinct telling me that my 360 won't last long, but this one hasn't given me a negative feeling. Maybe the xbox gods blessed me and made my FIFTH 360 a great one. But if it is going to die:monkey3, please die a good couple months after GTAIV is released :D.

ive had my x360 for a good year and 4 months now... no problems whatsoever yet.. "touchwood":monkey4 anyway.. if anything gos wrong im buying a ps3 soon anyway for mgs4.. besides ive only got about 8 games for the 360

So are all these problems mainly with the first few batches of systems? I have been thinking of getting one for GTA IV and Force Unleashed hoping that the new ones are ok but if not maybe I should rethink it.

I believe I've read somewhere that the last batch of Xbox 360 has a far lower fall out rate, but don't pin me on that.
Just get a 360. The games are cool on it and once you've played with some of the freaks your glad your purchased one.

Yes, mainly with the first few batches of systems. But even newer ones will still F-up. My buddy got his 360 last year and it was dated as being manufactured in July of '07, and it got the red rings. He got a replacement that was tagged as being manufactured in October of '07 and that one died too. So honestly it is more common with older batches, but it seems like it is still possible with a newer system. Honestly if you get a 360 you should be fine and no problems should occur, but if one does, Microsoft will take care of it.

There is suppose to be a "newer" 360 coming out (or it may be out already) with a even newer drive and card and all that. These newer insides are suppose to eliminate the problems that have happened in the past and are still happening. I am not sure if this model is out but ultimately the only way to find out is to read a certain number on the box of the console and based on that number you can know which model of 360 it is (I forgot exactly how many digits and what it is called, there is also a database or something online where you can find out which numbers apply to which type of 360 and its specs inside).

But once again, just go out and buy one, don't worry about all this above info. :monkey3

I thought that the new "arcade box" and the elite were the newer one's with the new chips in it and all. I know for sure that the regular Xbox 360 with HDMI (not the black elite) is the newest one.

Yes you are correct. The arcade for sure does have the new chips. I work at TRU off an on, and recently a Microsoft Rep stopped by and told us that soon future 360s will contain an even newer chip/drive/fans, everything that will significantly improve the 360s speed, frame rate, ability to handle graphics and eliminate the red rings problems. This was about a month ago.

The main change in the newer releases, since like June they started putting a new heatsink into the systems so that they manage heat better--which is the main problem, heat will cause the joints to melt and the motherboard to buckle. And then like around August or something the systems had a new processor that is supposed to take up less power and therefore make less heat. They are supposed to update it again with a newer chip later this year.

Really I haven't had any problems, but I doubt that I play on it as much as the other people that have had to replace theirs.

Look what I got back today! :monkey5

Congrats, sweet set up. How are you liking your A35? If you don't mind me asking, did you pay retail? I wished I had picked up a spare HD DVD player when retailers were blowing them out.

Btw, didn't you already have COD4 on 360?

Thanks man. Well, I got it during Black Friday, so it was only like $200. And I love it! The Panny was only $1098 today at Fry's and they still have tons of other killer deals!!

And yeah I was playing COD4 before, but I thought they were ^^^^^in' pics! :D
