I'm not sure if my 360 is getting louder or if it just seems that way because I've been playing my much quieter PS3 more lately. That being said I only use my 360 for games and nothing else. DVD's, Netflix all goes to my PS3. It's funny despite the PS3 being more expensive to replace, I'm still more paranoid about my 360 ____ing up on me than my PS3 even though I've had more problems (albeit minor) with my PS3 than 360.

I threw my PS3 across the floor a few weeks ago because it was having some issues and I was like "I hate this piece of $#it machine" yank and throw across the floor. Once I cooled down I plugged it back in rebooted and did some test and it runs fine. Not really sure what was wrong, it was just having problems reading discs. Regardless, if that thing dies good riddance I wont buy another, but if my xbox dies you better beleive I'll go right to the store adn grab another one. You can call me a fanboy, but its just the few games I have on my ps3 dont justify another buy. Most of my games that I like or play are all on 360.

As far as gaming consoles go, I like both equally, but I'll admit my PS3 has gotten more attention since we got Netflix. That being said, if my PS3 ____s up, I'll probably wait till the next price drop before I replace it. 360's (the bare bones version anyways) are cheap enough I won't feel as bad buying a new one if my current one craps out on me.

How long was the extended warranty for the $60? l will probably buy the kinect 250GB console. How much do you think that cord is to transfer my old hard drive to the new one, probably $50-$60. If so that is another $120 on top of the price tag $299.
I swear I saw one of the transfer cables at Gamestop for $15 used the last time I was in there. Ebay might be a good source for getting one too.

The original Xboxes and the original Playstations were tanks. Never had a problem with those consoles back in the day.

:lecture Yeah my Xbox still works to this day. Sadly my PS2 died twice before I wrote it off.

Is there any official numbers posted that have the RROD and YLOD??

If either one of them die out I"m officially finished with this round of consoles. I have a Boxee and Netgear Stora now for my viewing pleasures. If I need to watch a physical disc I have my external HD DVD drive and Blu Ray drive now so I'm covered there.

~~I don't ever recall a Nintendo or Sega console dying on me. My Dreamcast and Saturn both function flawless. Gamecube and NES are kicking so I don't know why MS and Sony can't figure this out.

Microsoft sure has it down on how to milk us. Why they didn't make the kinect have the same hard drive as always is beyond me. Just another money grap to make you upgrade, or forced to buy their transfer cord.

Have you heard about the red ring of death on the kinects, l don't know much about them.

I've got a transfer cable you can have if you pay for the shipping.

I never owned an OG xbox, but l know many that did and had zero problems. I had the PS2 and had zero problems. l never cleaned it, mass amounts of dust was in the fan, l would leave it on the carpet when l was playing. The static would make the machine red hot, l even dropped it down the stairs once, even after all this it worked great for years until l sold it for money to go toward my first 360.

Yes they cables are not as expesnsive as l thought. Will the cables for a regular 360 hard drive work to transfer my 20GB to a 250GB slim version, the hard drives are different.

l though l read somewhere a long time ago you can only do one transfer with a cable, or only once transfer per hard drive or something. I didn't bother doing that when l bought my Elite, l just put the 120 GB hardrive away and used my first 20GB.

I've got a transfer cable you can have if you pay for the shipping.

l will take you up on that. l will search if that cable will work to transfer my regular 20GB drive to a new 250GB Slim hard drive, since they are differnet type of hard drives, not sure if l need a new special cord for that. l am in Canada by the way. shipping would only be about $6 maybe, shouldn't be to much. i'll send you a PM.

This :lecture I put my PS2 Slim through hell, never cleaned it, spilled soda on it, loaned it to a friend who had roaches and caught several roaches crawling out of it and it got twice as hot as my PS3 yet it still worked like a dream till the day I sold it to help fund a PS3. My OG Xbox still works though when I first turn it on it won't load games so I have to turn it on a 2nd time to get it to work. At first I thought the disc drive was going out but it's been like this for the last 4 years and other than that still work fine. It's such a shame the current generation of consoles aren't built like the older ones.

Well my 360 Elite craped out today.

About a month ago l bought a new TV. Hooked it up and it was fine. Next time l used my Xbox l smelled a wierd smell, then got the Red Ring Of Death. The Xbox didn't work after turning it on and off. I got mad and punched my Xbox, then it worked again, until today.

Crazy thing is last night l had a dream that my Xbox will not work the next time l use it, sure as hell l go to turn it on and l get the red rings flashing.

This is my second one. God l hate Mircrosoft.

You'll be fine dude, ive had 4.

I'm on my 3rd and it's getting louder as each month passes.

Have fun with your 3 broken boxes. I preordered the Gears of War console since my pro is getting tired. Ive worked it like an animal for years now

I seriously can't believe you guys are willing to buy the same product over and over because the manufacturer doesn't build them to last :slap

Fair enough if one craps out you buy a replacement, but Blitzout your pro isn't even broken and you're getting a new one 'because it will'... has Microsoft just conditioned you to buy a new one every year?

In a related matter, my replacement Xbox 360 died years ago, i packaged it up, put it in the loft & bought a PS3.
When clearing out the loft today i thought, should i just bin it or do people buy them for parts on ebay?

On my SIXTH Xbox 360, only paid for the 1st as I got it on launch day and not a single one has lasted a year. Mainly use it as a DVD player now.

I like that the consul war now has a place to go on this site and can stay out of normal game threads. Keep up the flame war in here guys its doing wonders for us normal people.

We have no choice but to buy a new console if our other one dies. It's either that or your gaming days are over.

l agree it is dumb to buy a new style xbox if the one you have works fine, that is a waste of money in my opinion.

Dead xboxes are woth money. when my first one died 4 years ago l sold it for $50. My Elite that just died i'm not sure how much they would be worth, maybe $25.

l think PS3 sucks. Their controllers suck compared to Xbox, Xbox live is better online play, and don't preach PS3 owners don't have to pay for online because they will be soon enough. I will admit though l hate Mircrosoft, they are theives and in my opinon they lie about their technology.

If l was a crazy gunman l would go shoot up the main Mircrosoft building.:lol

thanks Fear666 i'm gonna put my console on the bay, might as well :wave

I gave up the 360 after my second died, traded in the games and went to PS3, no problems at all.

To me that is more cost effective than buying the same console over and over, the only thing i miss on the 360 is Gears of War, i'll borrow my nephews console and give GOW 3 a rent.

i considered getting the new GOW themed 360, but common sense told me there'll be a new console generation in the next two years & it's not worth it with the lifespan being inexcusable.
