Re: XM Dr. Strange

:clap
Oh please. SS homers have been crapping on statues by GG, HCG and a plethora of other companies FOREVER and it was all fine and dandy because you know what? That's when Sideshow was king of the mountain cranking out grails like Doom, Venom, etc. Now that every other release is a Code of Conduct inducing crap show you people can't take it. Too bad.

QFT :clap :clap

Re: XM Dr. Strange

I don't have a problem with you normally so I'd hate to ignore you all the time. Maybe if there was just a way to ignore you in XM threads?

Your idea that I don't bang on XM products like I do SS products is absurd. Read my comments re: XM Hulk or Electra and you'd see this idea you have has no merit.

I think you overestimate your ******** on XM posts and underestimate your posts in which you **** on forum member's XM opinions. Regardless, this conversation has more than run its course.

Again, you can feel that way and we'll disagree. People here routinely crapped on products by anyone not named Sideshow long before XM and it was just another day in the neighborhood. Now that the shoe is on the other foot the rules need to be changed? Hilarious.

Jesus Christ. Maybe that ignore button isn't a bad idea.

So use it.

For the record, I want to make this clear to everyone: I do not "crap" on products. :lecture

Sometimes, I will take a "tinkle" on them though. But #2 starts and ends in the toilet.

End of story.

Critical opinions from folks who have zero XM statues in their collection and appear to have zero intent of ever purchasing an XM statue for their collection are going to be met with skeptical responses rather than a friendly discussion of differences.

Not fair but reality.

Call it collector profiling :lol

Soooooo. Some of us need to make love to just the body and others the whole body and face? I guess those that love the masked version could just think of that as a bag over the head and we can all have a passionate time with him either way.

I don't read comic books and I am not a fan of comic adaptation statue. That's why I always buy HT as it has very good movie likeness adaptation. BUT, ever since I notice more of XM Studios, my love for comic statue grows.
I am not familiar with this guy either. But I am definitely getting him. The pose is too EPIC to skip and the movie is coming out next year. No reason not to score one :)
Cheers!!!

Ok, so with this Dr Strange face sculpt I do agree it looks a bit long in the face. The original sculpt was definitely better. I still have him preordered though as overall its an amazing statue and hoping they can touch him up. My main question though is why isn't XM getting any better overall with their face sculpts? It is pretty common knowledge that they struggle with face sculpts the most. Amazing style and paint apps, but the human faces seem to be a real issue for them. They are no longer a brand new company and have done enough statues now to notice this issue.

Now do we feel that they are actually getting better with their sculpts? It seems their wip photos are better than the actual finished proto with faces for some reason. so my question is why aren't the faces getting better? I know every XM product I look at now I am worried about how it will come out in the end.

The other thing people seem to not talk about. For the price that XM charges on these products there are a ton of custom companies out there that do work just as good for the same price. I really hope that XM doesn't get so used to their success that they don't fix their issues with face scuplts, as other companies will and are rising up to do products as good as theirs. I'm not bagging out XM at all, as I have 3 of theirs on preorder, but I am concerned with this issue and hope they address the situation and let us know about it soon.

I am trying to decide if the headsculpt issue are just lens distortions or actual problems. They original print of this looked gorgeous, but now there just seems to be something off. I would like to see it completely painted up though as I am pretty sure he hasn't been given the complete paint job form the pics I have seen.

I am new to XM but I always appreciate constructive opinion.. All for the better statue and in the end winning situation for us collector..

XM like any other company has hits and misses with individual pieces. Some of their facial sculpts are great (Magneto come to mind) and others are far rougher. I do think it should be noted that XM product retail in the 4 areas that they can sell them in for just a little more than an SSC PF. Now can most out of country collectors get XM pieces for that price, well they use to, but shipping was always a killer. Now, well who knows really how things will shake out over they next few months. It is unfair though to blame XM for they heavy aftermarket cost of their statues. I will say that there are some AMAZING custom statues out there, and that a lot of guys who can't easily obtain XM may start going that route.

I agree all companies have hits and misses. But just like if someone starts seeing QC issues with a company regularly, they will start talking about it more and more. XM face sculpts are a common thing talked about in forums and it only comes up because people notice it. If it was a once off in a while, then fair enough, but it does not seem to be the case. I think we need to stop referring to Magneto as the standard. I hear that comment all the time, but no one seems to mention others. Magneto was a while ago now and so I would say that if they did it on him back then, why can't they do it on others now? Some other sculpts vary from ok-good, but I can't think of a stunning face sculpt since then.

With shipping costs now you definitely can get customs for the same price as a XM product, particularly those living in the US. It's only those that live within the Asian countries that get the cheaper price for XM. Although a $950 SGD Black Bolt IS NOT the same price as a $470 Spider-Man. Not quite sure how you came up with that price, saying it was near the price of a SS piece? I wouldn't call $300 difference (after conversion) a close comparison.

I'm not sure why you mentioned the aftermarket price of the statues, as that was never anything I talked about? But yes I agree people need to start looking at the other amazing companies around as well. There is so much out there now. It's a great time to be a collector!!

All I can say in term of high prices would be because of lower Edition Size compared to SS? While if you compare to custom works the price could be about the same. But XM has to pay for license fee etc and thus cost more. I believe when it comes to customs no licensing fee taken into account.

I don't think we disagree with what their prices are pepez and why. There are many reasons why. But you still can't compare a SS price to XM. There is no comparison. for most people you can for the most part nowadays start to compare XM with custom sculpts. I have 3 custom sculpts on order and they will come to the same price as the 3 xm ones I am getting. I only drew this comparison just so that hopefully XM will realise they have competition too and others can do the same thing that they have done. Which is to bring in an amazing product that people want and have those people buying it. Hopefully they are getting new face sculptors or something to fix the problem I was raising.

Oh 5 new pages, must be fun last night. :hi5:

The problem is if you try to discuss, you get sometimes no discussion back. People want to see it bad, point.

How can the head be now longer? From 3D print to painting the head changed? You know it´s not the angle or
camera? Then they have magic colors which can convert a sculpt. :wink1:
