ok ya I have no problem selling for around market value.

What upsets me is the collectors who Live on the forums and buy all the statues lots of times multiples. Hype up the piece all over the net constantly and then list them for crazy amounts and set up a false price market. Thats what happened with XM at first! now that "these ppl" found out its hard to make much on most XM thats why you are seeing the costs of secondhand XM coming down...

as far as any kind of "moral high ground" if you are buying to keep in your display thats a true collector. If you need to sell a few years down the road for w/e reason you sell it for around the natural market value. You dont list something as a pre order, or shortly after release sale 2-3x the price just cause you can, those ppl are the @-holes who ruin this hobby.

:lol Okay, so just so I have this straight. If you buy something with the intent to sell it immediately and charge as much as someone is willing to pay for it you are an @-hole, but if you wait two years and do the same thing, that's okay?

How about this, I bought it, someone else didn't. They have the Demand, I have the supply and if they are willing to pay for it then I'm going to take their money.

All this garbage about "real" collectors and collecting morals is just that, garbage. If you don't want to pay a certain price, don't. I've abstained from buying a great many things because of price, collecting is no different. Either you want it so bad you'll find a way to get it at a price you can afford or you just don't need it that badly.

I'm a newer Statue collector that wants some of the previous released pieces from various companies. I have paid "ebay" and "Forum Market" prices for some of the pieces because they are sold out through normal retail channels.

I recently bought my first XM piece from a person over seas. I paid a small amount over retail. These sellers over seas seem to not be asking too much for their time to secure the actual pre order, plus the hassle of shipping to you. Seem like the going rate is about 100SGD for upcoming Pre orders above retail. In XM case these sellers also get the Member price which is 10% off retail. In the end they are making that 10% plus another 100SGD.

Once a pre order sells out or is exclusive to a con that's when stuff blows up in price which is quite normal for any item that is collectible.

how is it fair to sell something for almost 3 times what you bought it for? if people are dumb enough to pay scalper prices for something that's fine but don't make yourself out to be some hero for not marking items up as high as you can.

If I was going to sell my Magneto for $2000 right now to a forum member I can pretty much guess that member will think I'm a Hero :p given I would be saving him between $1000-$1500... :)

I'm not a flipper I'm a collector and I say it's more than OK to sell a piece at 5 times its original price at any time you like. Bottom line is there's a limit to polystone and if your willing to pay 5 times its value then the buyer is to blame for being a desperate idiot [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

This piece, is in my opinion, the most impressive piece by XM Studios. The concept here is great, and they captured the nature of GR very well. It's like a macabre laughing skull expression and I love it.

I should be getting this piece, and if everything goes as it should... this may be the most impressive piece in my collection.

I pity the fools who can't afford my Doom Ex that I bought direct from sideshow ten years ago :rotfl

:lol:lol:lol I've sold that one and others for north of the $4k mark, and I've even seen some people asking around $6k. Honestly I don't think any piece is worth that much above retail, but it certainly didn't stop me for selling them. I figured if someone was going to pay that much I'm stupid not to sell them....:lecture

While this is a phenomenal looking statue, XM is producing up to the 999 ES limit. On top of that, is GR really that popular of a character? Everyone thought Thanos and Phoenix were going to skyrocket in the aftermarket and the exact opposite is happening. Those pieces are dropping in price. Peeps that paid the high markup in the aftermarket when they were released are having a difficult time even getting back what they paid for them. Thanos is hanging around a G and Phoenix isn't far from there either. Unless peeps were lucky enough to buy their XM statues at retail, they aren't making much selling XM pieces. Mags is really the only piece still rocking in the aftermarket.

YUP...the effect of the XM bubble. I fell for it as well...I preordered several statues like Thanos and Blackbolt that I just let go...no point in keeping those preorders at $1600 and $1500 plus shipping when I could get them for about $1200 each shipped once they were released. I'm not buying into the XM hype anymore...this piece, while incredible, will suffer a similar fate...so I'm holding off...shoot, even Magneto (which I paid secondary prices for), is sitting on FB for $2800-3000...so I think $2500 will be the norm soon.

I'm not really concerned what the secondary market is, I just want the piece. The price I'm paying would be comparable to what I think SS would charge (plus tax) for something of this scale and I don't see them doing this in particular anytime soon. I haven't yet, gone after anything on the secondary market for a much higher dollar amount. I feel there's always something else that will come that's worth purchasing. This was the only XM piece I thought was worth going after.

You just described the majority of pop culture shock "collectors".

Soon XM as well, hahaha

If Sideshow and XM come together somehow … SS’s ability to distribute for XM across multiple regions will help kill this chance of happening. I hope they can come to a compromise soon, it would end all the middleman/huge increases we see these products go for. With the price point to get an XM piece in the states, I’d rather purchase a Prime 1 piece with much more detail and statue for the dollar.

I really hope it never gets to that point. If PCS collectors/flippers aren't brown nosing Jerry they're working over time making excuses for why a good number of his statues come out with crappy quality control. Despite XM prices, the one thing they have going for them is the fact that they're quality control is the best in the hobby.

I like that XM actually listened to collectors' feedback regarding the color of the flames. The first sample had too much orange and needed a little more yellow. The second sample had too much yellow and needed a little more orange. I like what they came up with here. :lecture
