I didn't mean it in an offensive way. Bowen did great work while it lasted. I guess for me getting an XM piece is no easy task and if I'm gonna go through all the hurdles and pay big bucks I'm personally looking for something a little unique and different. This Thor is also more expensive than other XM pieces. I think I was gonna pay close to 1500 for him. That's like 3-4 ss pieces. Like someone else said, I actually went back to ss because of this piece. I have no doubt this will be the ultimate comic version Thor but I'll honestly admit I never cared for his classic look. Just like I never cared for Magneto to wear purple underwear over his pants.

Hence why I said most of XMs Avemgers look like large Bowens not all.
So just Ant-Man then? Because XM Cap won statue of the year over things like Allied Charge on Hydra.
Take the wall away, and she isn't that much more impressive then a Bowen sculpt. Again I am not saying that as a bad thing... Just agreeing with some when they say that they are getting that kind of feel. However, given XMs philosophy of 30% comic and 70% real in their sculpts that makes perfect sense.

This looks more impressive than the SSC version so that would make that one worse than a Bowen. That's ok if you want that kind of thing. :lol

You are saying this ^ as if us saying it reminds us of Bowen has a negative connotation to it when it doesn't. If majority of people like XM cap over allied charge nothing wrong with that. If XM BW looks more impressive than SS BW thats fine as well. I like the SS pieces because they have a more real world look thats my preference, if you like the comic look XM really has that nailed which is what Bowen is known for. Since they are using the same source material and style it is an inevitability to see the similarities. This is not for every single piece they have made and is going to shift as times goes on I am sure. So yeah it is ok :D

I think what we have to take into consideration is that XM always stated that their Avengers line was always going to be more classical than what they were doing with X-Men and others. They then go and throw a wrench in it all and make the "Classic" Iron Man with modern design elements. That one really stumps me because I was really looking forward to a classic IM sculpt for once.

As for this Thor, I have a few issues with it.

Number 1, I was never a real big fan of his classic duds as much as the modern look.

Number 2, there's just something about the way this was overly muscled that really throws it off for me. His upper body in comparison to the rest of him looks stupidly big. Arms, chest, shoulders....they don't work for me and I think Erick got a little out of control with listening to fan feedback wishing he was bigger! bigger!! bigger!!!! Sometimes you just need to stick to your anatomy lessons.

Number 3, the way XM painted this really throws it off for me. The skin tone on the face and the golden locks are unappealing to me.

I do love what he did with the bearded headsculpt though. It's brilliant.

With that said, I think I prefer the original version here over the Sosa redo. Best case scenario is I would combine the original body sculpt with the Sosa bearded sculpt and mesh them together. Throw in some more realistic paints while I was at it.

Yeah on FB when people say it's just a bigger Bowen, it's meant as put down. Most people think of Bowen as a level below SS so saying what was posted made me think it was another dig. :lol

The yellow hair didn't do it for me either. I was on their FB going on and on saying change it to look like the new SS Thor. They went away and painted it like that and everyone loved it. Now i'm not sure if we're getting one sculpt with the yellow and one with the more sandy brown. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Tha contest had so many problems it wasn't funny. Firstly, it allowed new members on SF to vote basically instantly as a way to encourage new membership, which allowed a block of XM fans to simply stuff the ballet box for the ONLY XM statue that was on the ballot. That vote was as a result of a FB campaign against SSC as a company and a vote for XM; not as much as it was for the statue. Also to be accurate it won 1/4 statue of the year against a field of SSC pieces which had split the vote and if you look at it SSC had about 77% of the vote to XM 22% (these percentages may be off a bit as I am going by memory). Prime1's Megatron won statue of the year beating out SSCs Superman in the final, and thumping XMs Cap in the Semis. That contest has so many problems that I may not even bother with it this year.

As for this Thor looking better that SSCs that is a matter of opinion. I agree if you are talking about the OG PF, but I like the Modern Thor PF way better than this one because of the dynamics, and other then the leaning issue which SSC is fixing it looked great. By the way it is the same basic reason why I like then Allied Charge PF better than the XM Cap, design. For the most part the XM Avengers line doesn't come anywhere close to the same level of design as the rest of their pieces. In fact the Trinity of Thor, Iron Man, and Cap all have basically the same pose. Hulk is still easily obtainable, and usually at retail. For me almost evey other XM statue looks like larger versions of Bowen's action line, which is one of my favorite group of statues and I would be Pokimoning them if the were 1/4 so it is not meant in any way as an insult; whereas the Avengers line looks like the museum line that only had two pieces that really hooked me which were the classic Spidey and the Hulkbuster. XM puts out a great product and this Thor was the one I was closest to ordering, but in the end the design choices made by XM stopped me. That is okay though as I am sure one day very soon they will nail a character and a design that I love, and then the mad dash to secure one will begin. Until that day I will still admire their work and the artistry of it the same way I admire the work of many other companies.

I said XM Black Widow is better than the SSC version not Thor go read the quote again. ;) You will never buy XM so stop pretending. We talked about you and SS on FB, you know my feelings and with that said i'm done. :wave

You know that feeling if you want to answer on something, but your brain tells you don´t waste your time? :panic:

I just can't be bothered any more. It's the same thing every time. You just end up going around in circles.

Sorry I apologize I did miss read your quote, and I do agree tha XMs BW is better than SSCs, but I do think that they are both Bowenesque, and there is nothing wrong with that.

As for me buying XM they have only produced ONE character on my list of must haves and that was their Hulk, and while I have been tempted by it I can't get by the headsculpt.

I just want to say I LOVE Bowen Designs and hope that Randy is able to get back to work making more AWESOME Marvel statues ASAP. That's all folks.

Who the **** cares who produces which statue, the point is getting the statue you like best and want for your collection. Turning it into a fanboy debate when they are all making some beautiful statues is just ridiculous. We have different tastes, and should be praising the competition anyway.

As for me, I like XM, and I also like SSC. However, I can only say that for me Hawkeye, Wolverine, Magneto and Ant-man are the XM statues that really stick out. For the rest, there's some issues I'm having and other companies making just as good statues of the same character. Then there's also the money aspect. Obviously XM statues needs to be a bit better when it costs double of other statues. So like with Thor or Wolverine, I'm going with SSC because I can't justify paying more than double (with taxes and shipping) for them when I like the SSC ones more or less equally (I like SSC's Thor better, and XM's Wolverine a little better but also love SSC's). I'm getting Hawkeye, though, I find that extremely much better than SSC's, and I'm sniffing on Ant-man, awaiting to see if prices drop and if SSC comes up with one soon. :)

Just get what you like and let other people get what they like, we don't need to agree on everything..
