I wonder what else if anything they are doing to this? I will say an artist always needs to know when to walk away. You can tweak art forever but its not always for the best

Looks like I just scored a pre-order on this masterpiece...I know a guy, who knows a guy, who is second cousin of a guy, that is best friends with another guy.

I was told this may be one of two last possible pre-orders for Magneto on the planet...and it was part of a two statue bundle with Black Widow. So this morning myself and another fellow collector are very happy individuals.

I am excited, yet cautiously optimistic. No celebrating for me until I have the actual piece in my mutant loving hands...

Having fallen victim to over tweaking of various drawings, paintings and writings myself, I very much agree. These changes look good so far but artists do always need be cautious of falling into the "it's never perfect" trap. Nothing is ever perfect but that alone isn't reason enough to keep tweaking.

It is adjusted, most definitely. It's now cast as a single piece with the head instead of two pieces, eliminating the gaps between the forehead and the helmet. It fits perfectly now.

I can't believe these dudes at XM taking it to the next level. They easily could have left it as-is...it sold out in hours after all. But they took a good helmet and made it glorious!

All that's left for me to do is:

It hugs his face a little more, but there should be a small gap between. Whether that gets carved out or painted in, we'll see. Either way, I'm surprised you're happy because it doesn't sit any lower on his head. I imagine seen from the same angle as the pictures that bothered you this sculpt will look the same. Unless you were seeing an illusion before and only saw the "Leader syndrome" because of the small gap and not the actual height of the helmet.

I think the main thing they changed here was the mouth. This looks more snarl than sneer.

Jeez touchy subject in here Lol. I just thought it'd be nice because of the level of quality they seem to be delivering I'd like it if they delved into mm because it think they'd put their own different twist on it and I'm sure most of you would be pleasantly surprised by what they deliver

I just have NO interest at all in what XM can do with mixed media because that's pretty much all SSC does with their 1/4 pieces. Fully sculpted 1/4 statues from SSC are few and far between and that's a problem with peeps that love fully sculpted pieces. XM is really the only game in town for 1/4 fully sculpted Marvel pieces. After waiting forever to finally get away from mixed media, the LAST thing in the world I want is for XM to use PJs on their sculpts. Keep it fully sculpted all day, every day for XM pieces as far as I'm concerned. Peeps that like mm have the option to buy SSC pieces. Peeps that aren't a fan of mm now FINALLY have a choice of fully sculpted pieces from XM. Let's keep it that way. I can't begin to tell you how upset I would be if XM started doing the PJ thing with their sculpts. I can pretty safely say, I'd be done with them. If I have to eat PJs, I'll do it for $400 and buy from SSC. I'm willing to pay a premium not just for great QC, paint apps, and sculpts, but for also for fully sculpted 1/4 pieces. I'm actually a bit surprised SSC hasn't picked up on just how many peeps want fully sculpted 1/4 pieces. I think they are missing out on a HUGE opportunity by not having a dedicated 1/4 fully sculpted line themselves. XM obviously saw the demand and cashed in. I don't want XM to change a thing. Since SSC doesn't want my money for a decicated 1/4 fully sculpted line, I'll gladly give it to XM and purchase less from SSC.

I've seen side by side pics...it's definitely more fitted. It looks better now from all angles, trust me.

Don't know. The statue was perfect. Now the cape seems awkward and the helmet as one piece with no gap looks bad. Probably the helmet will look better painted, but if it stays at it is in the picture it looks subpar. I really liked that the helmet looked like a helmet, now it looks like head and helmet melted together. I hope we will get the original helmeted head too, since changing an already up for order piece isn't a nice move. I only saw one person really complaining about the helmet. Don't know if this justifies such changes, since the statue already went up for pre order. I hope we get the original helmet that we ordered too. I liked it much better.

Definitely agree with you. It's at this point you can do more harm than good.

I will say at the very least they are transparent with their process and its not a bait and switch at the end.

I hope this doesn't delay the statue. The nitpicking needs to end. Just give me my statue.

The change in the helmet...although I like the fit better now is debatable. What is definitely a great tweak and change is how his hand that rests on the cape give it a look like his cape is actually cloth and it is contoured to the shape of the Sentinel hand.

Most impressive to me is his foot no longer rests on his cape and it now shows more of the base (a Huge Plus)....plus it also adds a new dimension to the cape (folds).

Another huge plus is the added part of the leg / groin area. Someone on this forum pointed that out a long time ago and it got swept under the rug. But now it should definitely look like the leg is not just sitting and now look connected. This is a very important fix IMHO if you want to get more physically accurate.

But according to XM...it is now going to print with the changes...so I expect what was once a phenomenal piece to be that much better! Great changes IMO!

Like the old helmet better. Unless there's a big difference with the paint up, the change to the helmet is a step backwards IMHO. The old helmet had some room to breathe on it. It looked more natural to me. The changes to the cape and leg were warranted and make the piece look better. I wish they would have left the helmet alone.
