The white eyes sculpt is def my fave. This one is growing on me. I'll admit I wasn't drawn to it at first.

Did anyone put LEDs in the base or the bird itself? This seems like a no brainier if the leds are small enough to conceal. I recently got this piece and I would love to do this. Please post any info you have on this. Thanks

Yes I used Ikea Ledberg pucks. They are a little larger than a quarter in diameter, and provide a soft white warm glow. These pics show how it will look as I have placed one of the pucks inside the Translucent flame, and one puck facing the front of the Statue.

Ah Ok. That looks decent. Bird is pretty lit up actually. More than I would have expected from shining light on it. I was hoping to see someone that illuminated just the bird rather than a spot light effect. Perhaps someone using tiny LEDs between the base and the flames. If anyone has anything like that I would love to see it.


I went ahead and came up with this tonight. Its fairly ghetto and I'm not sure if its a long term solution. But I do think it looks really good. Its the look I wanted. I dug some some tiny led strand lights out of a Christmas box we had and used 2 strands. I have 2 on off switches behind the base with 3 AA batteries each. They have an on off and even a timer switch.

You're pics are not showing up. My first reply to you was explaining how I arranged my LED pucks.

My pics show the "Phoenix Bird' lit up by placing an IKEA Puck in the middle inside the base of where the Translucent flames start.

The Second IKEA puck is aimed at her face/body.

The Three pack of pucks costs under 15USD and can fit at least two LED Pucks inside the middle base of the Translucent flames which is Hidden and that's why you dont see the actual pucks the pics.

What I have done sounds exactly what you are looking for minus the LED shining on her face.

Its weird they show up for me here. I had a tough time with them being turned sideways even though they arent on my machine or the google photo i uploaded them to. I'll try just a single upload here of one that isnt sideways. Its not the best pic I have but its something.

I can see your puck on top of the base shining up. It looks good. What I was saying is I was hoping to see someone that put leds behind the flames or actually under the flames so it would shine out rather than a light being cast from the outside onto the flame.

Decided to pick up this piece. Thanks to Kibishii for hooking me up. I'm just blown away. That flaming eagle is flat out mind blowing. I was torn between this and the PF but I know that sideshow would never even attempt to give us anything like the flaming eagle XM gave us. It pushed me over the edge and I decided to pull the trigger once I found one at a reasonable price. Now I'm on the hunt for the El Mule portrait. That will complete the piece for me. I fell in love with that portrait as soon as I saw it.

Decided to pick up this piece. Thanks to Kibishii for hooking me up. I'm just blown away. That flaming eagle is flat out mind blowing. I was torn between this and the PF but I know that sideshow would never even attempt to give us anything like the flaming eagle XM gave us. It pushed me over the edge and I decided to pull the trigger once I found one at a reasonable price. Now I'm on the hunt for the El Mule portrait. That will complete the piece for me. I fell in love with that portrait as soon as I saw it.

I am bummed that I had to sell her, but my wife was harassing the hell out of me to do something with the 4 ft. pile of stuff she brought home that was being stored at her parents. She brought home some more PF's and Hot Toys earlier this week and is daily asking me, "What are you going to do with xxx?" She even moved my Machiko PF box and some of my Hot Toys Star Wars boxes right in front of my side of the closet!

I don't think we will ever see another flaming eagle base that will have the presence that the XM Phoenix base does. Glad you are happy with her and glad she went to a fellow freak.

I definitely agree with you on the flaming eagle. I can't see that being duplicated again and it looks absolutely stunning. Thanks again for selling her to me. I'll be admiring her in my collection for many years to come.

Well, I found the custom portrait I was looking for. I had a HUGE assist and helping hand from NorthernLad. Thanks a bunch buddy. And finally, thanks to lewisnfro86 for hooking me up with the portrait. It's off to my painter now and then back to me when it's done. I'm thrilled to have THE 1/4 Phoenix statue I want for my collection. For me, she'll look perfect when that custom portrait arrives. I've waited a long time to add a 1/4 Phoenix to my collection. It was so worth the wait.
