The Dark Knight. Its close with Begins ... but, TDK has a lot better villains.

In order -- TDK, BB, TDKR, Batman 89, Mask of the Phantasm, Batman Forever, Batman Returns, Batman 66, Batman & Robin.

I'd put Dark Knight Returns Pt. 1 and Year One between TDKR and 89. Under the Red Hood before MotP. Gotham Knight before Batman Forever.

I had to go with 89. That said I really like the Nolan ones. I just liked Keaton as Batman better.

Batman '89 and The Dark Knight above all the others.

Then Batman Begins and Batman Returns.

Then Mask of Phantasm (though I like the whole animated series more than the films).

Then Batman Forever.

Then The Dark Knight Rises.

Then finally Batman and Robin.

I picked TDKR because I'm not so invested in the classic character that I was put off by the Nolanizations. It felt like an early 90's James Cameron action epic with great thrills and the best Catwoman ever.

Was gonna vote for Begins when I saw the thread title, but when I saw the options I went with Mask of the Phantasm--and that's a no brainer. I still remember the pure geek delight of seeing that in the theater after (what I felt were) huge misses by Burton, who didn't really give me the Batman I knew and cared about, and even as a 9 year old Bat-fanatic left me disappointed.

I didn't really watch Mask of the Phantasm until last year. It came off as a long but mediocre BTAS episode. It wasn't bad ... but, after all the hype, I expected more. Overrated.

Yeah I remember the hype for Batman 89 and couldn't help but assume that it was going to be the "Star Wars" of Batman movies. When it turned out to be nothing more than "Beetlejuice" set in Gotham City I still enjoyed it but was ultimately disappointed.

I'm sure that nostalgia clouds my love for both the animated series as a whole and that film (just as I'm sure we are all similarly affected by our love of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Superman, etc.), but I think the only part of the film that feels like a bad episode of the animated series is the focus on the love story. Gets too melodramatic and cheesy at times, which is not fitting with the mood of the show and overall movie IMO.

But putting that aside, of all the options here, Phantasm is closest to the comic version of Batman, and that counts for something.

89 Bats is getting some decent votes early on, so much for whoever was whining last week that everyone had forgotten about 89 Bats already. :lol

You should also take into account, though, that the 3 Nolan movies are gonna split the Nolan Bat-vote. If you had a vote by franchise, I think Nolan would win in a landslide (currently 20 votes between the 3 vs. 5 for both Burton's films combined).
