For me it's the "And you'll never have to" line at the end with Gordon. One of the best ever endings to a movie that leaves you wanting more.

For me, The Dark Knight is the end all, be all for Batman films. Perfect.

To me, though it's a great film it's the least "Batman" film on the list.

There was no gothic atmosphere, Gotham looks like a generic american city, the majority was during the daylight, his suit was less "Bat", he didn't use his batarangs

Definitely, as awe inspiring as TDK is, I judged my decision on the TC's first post:

I don't think this one has been done yet. For whatever criteria you judge by, what is the best/your favorite/desert island Batman movie?

I voted Batman Begins. Im not a mark for Nolan batman films though. I did like the originals too. Id probably put a couple of the originals before TDK

Nolans 3 and 89Bats, then a few toons are what I'd hold as my favorites.

Batman '89. TDK is a close second, but in addition to being a solid movie, '89 is the most visually appealing to me. Love the character designs and the look of Gotham. Plus Michael Keaton's awesome.

Batman Begins is easily better then TDK. So I have no idea what the hell is wrong with the world.

This is a tough one...
I'm not a big fan of the Burton movies, but I do remember that Batman Returns kicked all kinds of butt. I will have to watch it again though, just to make sure. I never really liked his first Batman movie. It was a bit too campy for me.
And the less said about the Schumacher movies, the better. Too bad he wasted two great actors... Kilmer and Clooney could've been great as Wayne/Batman given better material to work with.
As for Nolan's films, while great, it's hard for me to pick one. Atmosphere wise I'd say Batman Begins, it's the only one of the three that resembles a Batman movie. The stylistic jump from BB to TDK is ridiculous IMHO. TDKR recaptured a bit of the vibe from BB, but not nearly enough for me.

Agreed :exactly:

Batman Begins probably has my favorite ending out of the 7 Warner Bros live action franchise. I wish I could relive that feeling of Batman turning over the evidence and revealing the Joker card. At that point, it felt like the sky was the limit.

It really was. I felt the same exact feeling. My mind was going ape **** at the thought.

Nolan didn't disappoint. But Heath sure did.

I can see why people would vote that way. Its a close call for me. Guess it depends on my mood. Begins is a better Wayne story arc, a better looking batsuit, better stylistically, better Gotham. A perfect origin story.

I voted TDK because of the villains. The villains make the story. TDK wasn't as good stylistically. Though I see the practicality of the batsuit, I like the look of the first one better. It didn't have as much of a story arc for Wayne -- most of the arc was Harvey Dent. But, it had the best Batman villains out there, and that made for a more compelling plot, a bigger threat, and a better movie.

I think its because TDK picked up so many fanboys, rather than long term Batfans. It was now cool to like Batman. :wink1:

Both great movies though, but in the end, BB has so many great elements it edges it out in my perception. Maybe it also has that Iron Man 1 thing going for it, where it totally blew my socks off in the theatre, so when I went to see TDK I already had a high bar set.
