Any more boring than 1989 Batman? Batman Begins, etc, etc.

Maybe I need to revisit my "Rises" blu ray in a year or so. Let it marinate. I have gone from enjoying it in theatres at first viewing to finding it boring at home at second/third viewings (and I have surround sound and a 55").

Other Batman pictures 89/90's are not the best but atleast they have villians to draw you in (as silly as they are).
Bane was boring.

^^ DiFabio's list :exactly:

TDKRises was one movie where I was more looking forward to the Extras/Bonus than the movie :lol But, for me, it failed even at that. TDK's Gotham Uncovered is still among the best featurettes I have seen.

Batman '89 and The Dark Knight above all the others.

Then Batman Begins and Batman Returns.

Then Mask of Phantasm (though I like the whole animated series more than the films).

Then Batman Forever.

Then The Dark Knight Rises.

Then finally Batman and Robin.

completely agree with this.

but I would add Batman: Under the Red Hood on top of Dark Knight Rises. I liked Under the Red Hood a lot

so I guess mine would be

The Dark Knight

Batman '89

Then Batman Begins

Batman Returns.

Batman Forever.

Batman: Under the Red Hood

Then Mask of Phantasm

Then The Dark Knight Rises.

Batman and Robin.

How come Batman: Under the Red Hood was left out? that movie was really really good. I liked it more than Mask of Phantasm

Yes it did, to the horror of the producers because they had to redo the movie for a theatrical aspect ratio.

The worst thing is, WB had no idea what to do with the movie so they shoved it to cinemas without any promotion whatsoever, and when the movie didn't even made its budget back, WB must have thought they had a flop.

Here's a good video that covers Mask of the Phantasm:

EDIT: It has no spoilers, so dig in!

Just got done with TDKR and while I won't say it's a better quality film than TDK, I think I prefer it. It just felt way more suspenseful and I was more emotionally invested. Bane grows on me as I watch it. I know that's is like blasphemy for Batman fans, but I just don't enjoy the Joker as much when I watch it compared to the first couple of viewings. He has a few moments to me that will never, ever get old, but I'm over alot of the film...especially towards the last quarter of it. Maybe I'll feel this way about this one as well after I watch it a few more times, but for now this is where I stand. I also prefer TDKR because Batman feels like he runs the show, he doesn't play second-fiddle as much as he with the Joker being so over-saturated in and out of the film. Just my .02

EDIT: Thought it over...and really the only parts of TDK that are lackluster to me are the scenes with the prisoners and where Joker and Batman fight in the skyscraper....the "sonar" scene. But I did like the closure of TDKR of course.

wow that was a wonderful vid thank you for posting.

And the best script. Possibly the best score, too (definitely the most underrated score).

:goodpost: I have all Batman soundtracks and the MOTP score is the one I listen to the most. It's sooo good! RIP Shirley Walker.

I guess if I have to rank the movie soundtracks, it would be:

8. Batman & Robin
7. Batman Forever
6. The Dark Knight
5. Batman Begins
4. The Dark Knight Rises
3. Batman Returns
2. Batman
1. Mask of the Phantasm

That's pretty much how I'd rank the scores as well.

I haven't listened to the score on its own. The opening credits are hauntingly memorable though. I would rank Elfman's work above Zimmer's as more iconic/memorable to the character. However, unlike Superman, I don't think Batman has one theme. The soundtracks all fit within their respective film. Elfman's sounds wrong in Nolan's films and Zimmer's would sound wrong in Burton's.

Scores wise

1. TDKR
2. TDK = BB
3. Batman
4. Batman Returns
5. MOTS
6. Batman Forever
7. B&R
