While responding to Veil, I was just thinking damn, this looks like it was shot yesterday. Film is truly wondrous, still better resolution than any digital device. Trust me... trust me... trust me...

I have a BFA in photography! :nana:

Thanks for the feedback.

Just started 30 Days of Night.

Have you missed all my glowing critiques of the blus as I've been going along? It's an amazing set, and each transfer has been lovingly restored to an absolute magnificence. Utterly worth the $50 I paid.

Dracula is stunningly gorgeous and sounds amazing too!

Get it! :wink1: :yess: :stick :hi5: :wave

Well, that does it. I'll be getting it toot sweet

Amazon.uk preorder. But I don't think they are that price anymore. I ordered with the intention of canceling if reviews were bad. But reviews were great, and they weren't lying. If it's too high now, wait awhile and it'll come back down. Maybe you'll have to wait for Black Friday...

We're kinda like Brothers. And since we are practically family... where did you get that set for $50? It is way more on Amazon.
amazon.co.uk

prices may have gone up since they first started shipping these, but look into it a bit more.

Actually, it's still not a bad price, might even be exactly what I paid. The 36 pounds worked out to just over fifty bucks plus a little charge on my credit card for using it internationally.

Check it out:

The case isn't that great, but it comes with the little booklet. The discs are all ugly and there's all this UK coding about age limits or whatever all over everything, but that's not what matters. What matters is what is on the discs.

Indeed.
What matters most is the underside of each disc. :D

Just watched curse of Frankenstein for the first time. Got the new blu ray, which looks great for such an old film. Totally loved it. Really hoping for more and more of the hammer classics to get this treatment.

I wish we got the blu rays here in the States. :monkey2
They aren't region free, are they?

I watched The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave. Great title, fantastic poster. Terrible movie. Couldn't wait for it to end. The description sounded like cheesy fun with 1970 T&A, but it was hard to sit through.

Watched The Wurdulak segment of Black Sabbath... One of the most beautiful and atmospheric horrors ever to be put on film. The colors just pop, and the direction is brilliant. I wish all horror films looked and felt like this. They need to release a blu ray with both the American and Italian versions.

The set bought from the UK will work on your blu ray player.
All versions of this Universal Monsters set are region free. :)

There was a sale at Future Shop so I picked up

The Frighteners BD (Blind buy)
Dawn of the Dead (remake) BD
Child's Play BD (Blind buy)
Carrie BD
The Thing (1982) BD
The Amityville Horror (Original) BD

Awesome. I love pumpkinhead. Never seen any of the sequels though.

I've been told to stay away from the sequels and having seen part 2, I think I'll leave the others alone. Just watched the Fright Night remake. Hated by many, I thought it was pretty cool. Up next Terror Train.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll stay clear of them then. Just stick the original. I thought the fright night remake was ok. Saw it at the cinema and have no real desire to watch it again, certainly not a patch on the original, but still ok.

I'm thinking dawn of the dead tonight. Original classic of course.

I just read what it was, be happy you didn't waste your time. :lol

A 30 second clip teasing a new non PA movie.

Oh right, was it a film that's supposed to be connected to PA?

Glad you enjoyed it mate. :duff

Yeah it was really cool. Really wanna hunt down some more hammer stuff now. As a teenager I loved hammer but mostly their vampire/dracula movies. With a few of the weird devil or witchcraft movie here and there too.

I wish we got the blu rays here in the States. :monkey2

I just checked but no, the case says its region 2. Sorry bud. Are these new releases not available over there then?

No, not yet. We have the Synapse blurays of Twins of Evil and Vampire Circus, but that's about it.

Just watched Demons. heh... I guess it had heart, but it was pretty bad. Very dated in the 80s.

Have you also seen the orginal Fright Night? If so, then fair enough. If not, I think you'll see that it's superior.

I remember watching Terror Train as a very young boy. Those masks are creepy. I haven't seen it again in years, though.

Now watching The Last Exorcism.
I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Starts slow, but if you stick with it, you'll be treated to a twist ending that rocks. I just love this one. :rock
