Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Like I said in another thread I won?t be surprised if DIsney snatches DC and its other properties. Mickey is following WB around like Gollum did the fellowship. Just sneaking about in the darkness.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

It does suck that WB has fallen to the dark side. They were always the best studio about honoring the cinematic integrity of their films at home. Giving them Dolby Vision, proper IMAX ratios, etc.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

I mean the company needs to make money, and the population is shifting to digital content. They are releasing content both online and in theaters. This gives consumers a choice.

I really don't get this. I don't even see the controversy. If you want to go to the theater, go. If you want to stay home, stay home. If people really care about the theaters, they will show up in droves to support it.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Where do all films end up? No, not Walmart, they end up in your home, so no matter the scale of the film or the aspect ratio or the budget, they will all end up in your living room and on your tv. All these directors crying about their precious "art", yet they're playing with other people's money, so they have no credibility, no leg to stand, and are coming off as spoiled children. WB or AT&T should tell them, "The only matter I do not take seriously, boy, is you. Your politics bore me! Your demeanor is that of a pouting child. And apparently you alienated my favorite director, Zack Snyder." :lol But seriously, what do these directors want? There's a global pandemic, LA and NY are closed, WB still released Nolan's film because HE wanted it in theaters now, so they did, and it bombed. It didn't even get great reviews. :lol So I have no idea what he's crying about? Same with the other directors. The films are still coming out to the theaters that are opened.

Well, AMC Theaters will be shutting there doors in January without government intervention/relief of some kind. So unless something changes quickly NO, if I want to go to a theater in the future I won't be able to as they won't exist.

That isn't Warner's problem, it is the problem of people not wanting to go to the theaters. The Cinemark near me closed down during the summer, and actually ripped off the renter leading to a lawsuit.

No it's not, and frankly I wouldn't be surprised if the industry's endgame isn't to shutter all the theaters, then buy them on the cheap so they can cut out the middle man and keep all the profits to themselves. No doubt such a move would be quite contentious and potentially problematic with respect to monopolizing the business, but if it's "due to COVID" they could probably get away with it.

The problem I am seeing is places were theaters are closing are areas where the businesses around them are drying up. A couple of malls near me have been drying up with only the theater saving them. With the theaters gone, those areas not really being used now except for Covid mass testing sites.

I think most of the theaters once gone are gone. People have pretty good home equipment now to view movies.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

DV makes a couple of good points, unlike Nolan, but the fact of the matter is the pandemic will not be over in a few months, and it's quite questionable whether people will go back to the movies in the same numbers as before. So what do these guys want? For the studios to sit on these movies for another year before releasing them and just hope that movie theatres are still open and people still want to go to the movies? It's too much of a gamble. I love going to the movies and I sincerely hope movie theatres survive, but it's just not logical to expect the studios to sit and wait.
Also, this has nothing to do with impairing the director's artistic vision. They can still be free to do the movies they want to, it's just that for now, they will go mostly straight to streaming.

Now, this doesn't mean I agree with the way WB/AT&T went about it... they could've shown a little more finesse.

These studios already make 90% on the tickets. Theatres make money on popcorn and snacks.

WB are smart and bold for their decision but stupid for not including their talent. I can understand both sides, however the directors are being very overdramatic considering how the world is

Not really when you consider how they're paid. See Judd Apatow's comments regarding residuals...

Nolan new interview he said he wishes that Fincher loved Alien 3 as much as he does.

Oh and a guilty pleasure of his is Tokyo Drift wtf why that crap lol

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Nolan likes cheese and secretly enjoys eating fast food too. It explains Bane. He wants to intellectual because everything about him screams smart, but his true nature always comes out. He probably likes Cobra too.

I love ALIEN ?, its different than Alien and Aliens, but its good and a solid work from Fincher.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Nolan is just another rich ***** bitching about losing a few million dollars in residuals from box office ticket sales, while the rest of the peons struggle to find toilet paper in the stores- dont believe any of his bs about "its ruining my art "- its only about money. The funny thing about all this if if the studios go under holding onto all these movies Nolan doesn't get jack ****, also without them putting up all the money there is no movie, he would be stuck making indy films again with low budgets that nobody will watch anyway (since its the era of the blockbuster). First world problems for rich director who will still be rich even if his movies go to streaming. The studios have to make money, what does this guy not understand about that, if studios dont get paid how does he expect them to pay him???.

Ironically, it was his movie that propelled warner to make this move, Tenant didnt make **** in the box office, it was complete loss for the studio. Is Nolan willing to take losses when his movies dont make money just cause he wants them in the theater, why should the studio take the loss and pay him top dollar. He is just a greedy hollywood director, that thinks he owns his movies when really he doesnt own **** since he doesnt flip the bill. If nolan wants to put his movies in the theaters well let him come up with the money himself- start his own movie studio

Lastly If they wait to release all of these films, we would have about 50 movies all releasing at the same time, none of them would make money cause it would just be too many at once

Also fun fact, warner did signicant studies and polling of people about their willingness to go see movies in the theater what they found is the only people that would be willing to routinely go see movies in the theater did not believe Covid was a serious illness, or it was a hoax or they were not concerned about it. This is a very small segment of the population, which told them well we aint going to make money. Moreover, how do you expect the theaters to protect other people that are in there when the majority that are willing to go think its a ****ing hoax. Its pretty obvious, most people who take covid seriously wouldnt step foot in a theater even if they were all open right now, just cause you putting yourself in a high risk situation of contracting the virus. Movies theaters are for the covidiots and Chris Nolan

The reason Warner did not consult with people like Chris Nolan first is cause they do not have to they own the studio and rights to the movie, why should they give them a chance to ***** about their money, when warner is losing money too. Thats all these directors were going to do, but my "residuals", how to calculate my residuals if my movies are streaming its not fair, what percentage are you going to use and what baseline, my money my money-- Cry babies **** them and their residuals

Why isnt Patty Jenkins bitching, Ill tell you why, Warner offered both her and Gal Gadot 10milion as compensation for lack of residuals. See Nolan thats how you act professional you freakin negotiate not go to the media crying like a baby. What movie does he even have coming out soon, why is he bitching anyway???. The guy is complete self centered prick like most of the directors who have been vocal about this. Just ****ing negotiate with studio nobody feels sorry for them about not getting a few extra million dollar so the public opinion approach was probably not his best move to make especially with what is going on. Also warner never said it was going to be streaming only, Wonder Woman will be released in Theaters on xmas too but only certain ones are open here and as i mentioned before only covidiots are going to them. Moreover the movies will only be on the streaming service for a month before they are removed and either put back in theaters or be sold again on streaming services and physical media. The greedy directors have no leg to stand on in this fight, they truly want warner to sit on these movies and make no money eventhough warner already paid them for the work on the films- they expect them to lose money just so they have a chance to make more... Crazy talk

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Why does he think it's good idea to announce these details? I don't necessarily care, but I'm sure there are some fans out there that would prefer to see his cut without having stuff spoiled,
