Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

I don't think anybody said anything about this being the "true comic book version of the Joker" (as a matter of fact, I don't think that even exists), so I guess you just typed that to elicit some type of angry response? Or to be funny? Ironic? :dunno
And I didn't see anybody belittling Ledger's Joker, so I don't know what the second part of that sentence is referring to...

To answer your question. I have an opinion, and will express it as I like. Some things are worthy of deep discussion, and sometimes I see a picture that is ridiculous, and will add some humor as a form of commentary. But it is my opinion, and not directed at anybody, simply relevant to Snyder Cut.

so it seems a bit hasty to label it stupid.

So, once more I feel it's just a statement put out there out of pure animosity towards the director and the movie.

Lets stick to the movie. People are piling on ironwez20, and its silly. The conversation should not be about him. He is free to like, dislike or call the movie stupid. There is nothing wrong with that, and the more he wants to articulate it the more fortunate we are. He has discussed his position when asked, and I see nothing wrong.

But if he is asked a question, and he says he doesn't hate the director, then people need to move on. This is a forum to discuss a movie, not to make opinions about other people. If you have a question for ironwez20, ask it, and if he answers it, move on. Calling out people saying they have animosity for other people is not constructive, especially when they say they don't.

In my opinion, I want to watch the Snyder Cut. I do not have faith it will be good, since his past work is not even Michael Bay transformers quality, IMO. But every director has its fans, and no doubt people want to enjoy this form of entertainment. The marketing to me for JL SC has seen baffling at times, and I have criticized specific photos or forced character injections.

People are free to express their opinions, but do you not see how nauseating it is seeing repeated negative commentary on the film when each person who is doing so have already expressed numerous times and to whatever articulated extent how they disliked all of his previous films and are disliking everything being shown currently?

Yes, freedom of voicing your opinion is allowed, but continuously crapping on what others enjoy when negative opinions have already been discussed is just being an *** hat at best.

It's like continuously going to someone else's party all the time telling them how crap it is and mocking everything they've organised, yet turning up every time.

Imagine wanting to talk about a thing you enjoy with the same people continuously mocking it day in and day out. Why would you want to discuss it? You'd be pretty annoyed also, there's a point where it's no longer discussion of opinions, but just voicing contempt. Yet people who tend to hate on his films preach on their high horses how devoted Snyder's "cult following" will defend anything, yet in all instances I've seen it tends to be a very large vocal internet group railing against every word and frame he chooses to release for a film which he and the studio have decided to release for the fans of his work.

It goes without saying those who disliked his other films won't like this, any pretense of seeing if this one is better is complete bs, people are clamoring to watch it and chomping at the bit for any piece of info about the film they can **** on whilst maintaining that those who are waiting to enjoy it are the toxic ones.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

At least we can get the true comic book version of Joker as a Christ figure, and not the deep and psychological creature we got in The Dark Knight.

People need to accept that Doomsday was handled perfectly in the BvS, and so will the Joker.

I don't think anybody said anything about this being the "true comic book version of the Joker" (as a matter of fact, I don't think that even exists)

Yes, much of the hate comes from preconceived notions of how things should be. A mass movie audience is different to a comic geek audience. Plus, after 80 years, do you really wanna see the same interpretation of the characters over and over?

I'll go one step further: After 80 years, do we need to see any more interpretations of that character? At some point maybe they should just move on from reinventing the same character ad nauseam. I'm not directing this at the Snyder Cut per se, but I think maybe it's time to develop new foes for Batman, or at least use some that haven't seen much/any screen time like Deathstroke or Red Hood. Court Of The Owls with its Talons was very cool, although that might be tough to adapt to the big screen.

Wow. What a joke of a picture.

All the article tells me is that this is a polished turd but this time it has hallelujah playing at the end!

From the Vanity Fair article:

"But Warner Bros. did nix some of his more sweeping notions for Justice League, like adding a romance between Ben Affleck?s Bruce Wayne and Amy Adams?s Lois Lane, who was mourning Superman?s death in the previous film. ?The intention was that Bruce fell in love with Lois and then realized that the only way to save the world was to bring Superman back to life,? says Snyder. ?So he had this insane conflict, because Lois, of course, was still in love with Superman. We had this beautiful speech where [Bruce] said to Alfred: ?I never had a life outside the cave. I never imagined a world for me beyond this. But this woman makes me think that if I can get this group of gods together, then my job is done. I can quit. I can stop.? And of course that doesn?t work out for him.?

It didn?t work out for Snyder either. The studio said no."

:lol:lol:lol

Geezus. They don't know how to make a DC film at all. The fact this was even discussed is a joke.

Why the hell is this even getting released. They need to scrap everything. Take a few years to plan out and craft the DC Cinematic Universe. And then begin shooting the films.

Trying to build a burn bridge, trying to polish a turd, isn't going to help anyone.

You see, IMHO, that is the typical snide comment that seems to be there for the sole reason of making fun of or being irritating, since it isn't making reference to anything anybody has said in the thread. It's just gratuitous nonsense.

Well, there's a lot of people who have analysed Snyder's work and found it interesting and thought provoking, as well as lots of people who commend his visual style. Maybe not as many as those who deride his work, but still enough to make your blanket statement that "his work sucks" questionable.

And may I ask why you think the picture of the Joker impersonating Jesus is stupid? We don't know any of the background on it, nor the intention of the character or the director, or its meaning within the movie, so it seems a bit hasty to label it stupid. Furthermore, is it out of character for the Joker? I'd venture to say it isn't...

So, once more I feel it's just a statement put out there out of pure animosity towards the director and the movie.

What do u mean why do I think it?s stupid? Look at it? It?s silly. People think Snyder is deep when he makes pics like this and it?s not. It?s a silly picture. Idk what to tell you. And yes it feels out of character. It just screams try hard and look how deep I am . And again in this thread we can say what we want. If I think his work sucks then I think it sucks . I said before I hope the Snyder cut changes my mind . And no one has animosity towards the director. Jeez. When someone shows distaste for something or doesn?t mean that hate the guy . They may just disagree with its direction. And let?s be clear , if the comics did a Jesus joker picture to I?d find it cringy aswell. So it has nothing to do with Snyder

Points taken, but I still believe the way the comments are expressed isn't being constructive for any kind of discussion, which is what I pointed out. I could go on about your response, but I will move on, as belabouring the point any further won't get us anywhere :duff

Again.... you ? the Snyder fans? are not discussing anything in this thread or keeping it afloat . It?s different people with different opinions talking about the movie in this thread. This thread is moreso filled with skepticism and intrigue. People poke fun at stuff. Nobody is saying they hate Snyder . And I notice Snyder fans really dislike when someone pokes fun at the man?s work and think they are hating and not a real DC fan. So stop whining about people not liking Snyder. Everyone is discussing it and not being toxic or attacking fans for liking it. They are pointing out flaws in the movie itself and pictures. People are aloud to criticize. They are fans of DC just like you are and if you don?t like it then debate them back it?s simple .

The Star Wars thread has people hating on the ST , they don?t whine about it they just debate and talk about why they like it and how it doesn?t suck . It keeps the thread fun and interesting. Forums were made for debating views on a subject and giving In opinion. Nobody is trolling or attacking or being toxic in here. Your just mad that it?s not 100 percent positive in this thread towards the Snyder cut.

Also nobody really criticized the joker picture at all. I poked a lil fun at it but I didn?t say I outright hated it. So I don?t know where your rant came from

Well, with your same eloquence I could just say "what do you mean it's stupid? Look at it, it's brilliant!".

I'm not saying it's deep, or brilliant (well as a photograph, it is quite accomplished, actually), I have no idea what Snyder wants to convey with it since I haven't seen how it works within the movie. But, unlike you, I'm willing to wait and see... Of course, I like Snyder's work and I like his take on the D.C. heroes. You say it feels out of character, how so? Admittedly, I'm no expert on the Joker, but in the many comics I've read I've seen him portrayed as pretty much every type of psycho- and sociopath in existence and then some. The Joker could show up in Samurai amor and it would be fine, since the Joker does whatever comes to his (probably brilliant but twisted) mind. And that's the point I was making in my earlier post, making these blanket statements without any rationale behind makes it very hard to have discussions and just sounds like "let's mock this for the fun of it"...
You say "Idk what to tell you", and maybe that's it, maybe you're just having a visceral reaction to something you dislike and you yourself don't understand why. That's fine. But maybe it would be better to see the context and then discuss why it works or doesn't work.

Let me put it another way.

The MCU's Thor is absolutely nothing like I have always envisioned Thor after reading comics and being a very young fan of the old animated series on T.V. Thor Ragnarok completely missed the mark for me as far as what "the end of the world" should mean. But hey, Disney decided they wanted a version of Thor that was different from the comics, and they didn't want a tragic movie depicting the destruction of Asgard and the genocide of its population, and they decided that funny, fat, drunk, Thor was the way to depict grief... I think it was all a huge missed opportunity, but that's ok. I go to the movies and watch the MCU's vanilla version of heroes and enjoy it for what it is. If there's something I really hate, I try to articulate it, have a few discussions here and there, and then just move on. Same with the Star Wars ST, we've had great discussions with ajp, khev and others, and even though I don't like the ST very much, I enjoy reading about other's opinions and trying to see what they enjoy in those movies, and sometimes I've even found some respect for what the filmmakers were trying to convey.

But I doubt you'll find me stating "this is stupid" and then not even explaining why.

Still, it's a free forum man, and I'm sorry if I'm sounding aggressive, it's not my intention.
As I said to hellgrammite, moving on... :duff

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

I just watched the opening of the new Superman tv show plus the battle with master chief Luthor and not for nothing not only is it the best looking CW show ever it perfectly captured the STM vibe.

They even had him in the Fletcher suit damn.

The effects were really well done his take off was very cool.

Just made the SCJL slightly less special.

I've stopped watching all the CW shows since last year. The entire roster felt like a mess. I used to like them but for the past 2 years or so it seems like the writing has devolved into creating some forced conflict and drama between the main characters.

I never watched any and i’m not going to start with this current Superman show but for a CW show they dumped quite a bit of money on it

I've watched the main ones since they came out (Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Batwoman) but stopped last year. They've become as formulaic as they can be with most episodes folliowing:

1. Initial superhero fight/moment or moment to introduce this episode's villain.
2. Drama forced down into character's throats to add a bit of dark angst.
3. Initial superhero fight with the day's villain, which ends with the hero failing.
4. Show's resident science nerd comes up with a fantastical McGuffin that will be the solution to for this episode.
5. Hero uses fantastical McGuffin to defeat today's villain.
6. Something something bla bla bla about the overall villain for the season hyping up stuff for the next episode.

I just finished watching it a little bit ago. The Fletcher suit was pretty cool. And I thought the exact same thing at the end when they revealed Master Chief as Luthor... :slap

I was impressed with the 1st hour or so, then it all went down hill and became just another dull CW Arrowverse Super Show. The CGI was pretty good for TV, until Master Chief Luthor appeared and thus showing the budget problems with all the CW stuff.

Was gonna pass on it as I didn't care for Supes in the Arrowverse, but they fixed his look and costume big time in this. And the guy seems to be much better in his own show than being Supergirl's sidekick. Only really ever watched the Flash & the crossover events, but gave up on that a few seasons ago.

Did he sing "Kiss From A Rose" to defeat Superman?

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Wow, you guys weren't kidding. The CW captured Superman's essence in 4 minutes better than Snyder in 3 movies. :lol

I like how wholesome he seems when he tells the kid that his mom made him the suit. Having said that, the Fletcher suit looked awful with those fake muscles that disappear when Clark wears a suit. :lol And Lois, yikes...

Also, Superman gives the kid the baseball cap and then blows it away as soon as he takes off. :lol
