Peter Jackson has proven he is a competent film maker and made one of the most iconic trilogys of all time. Plus people wanted those extended cut. What has Snyder done on Peter Jackson’s level?

“Don’t do that!” I mean, it’s there, deal with it. Arguably the best film experience of all time as far as the cultural consensus goes is 11 1/2 hours long. And many, many fans watch it as a marathon. That is a fact.

The assertion was that a film experience is automatically terrible if it exceeds the standard length. This is in response to that.

Is Snyder's Rebel Moon saga as masterful as Jackson’s LotR? No one is making that assertion. But can it be enjoyable at 6 hours? For some obviously the answer will be yes.

Again don’t do that. Unlike Snyder people actually wanted an extended version of lord of the rings. And lord of the rings is just as iconic as Star Wars. You guys are comparing a pebble to a massive mountain

Even before the theatrical cuts were released they were sitting at over 9 hours so saying how iconic they are now is irrelevant.

Either the concept of a 6+ hour movie is wrong or its not.

So Zack mentions in the Empire magazine interview that Rebel Moon Part 3 has been green-lit by Netflix and is up next for him in his production schedule. Netflix is evidently happy with performance of the franchise. Views of Part 1 were quite good despite critics panning it. Zack said 80-90M when he was on Joe Rogan.

It’ll be fascinating to see what sorts of view numbers both the PG13 cut of Part 2 and both R-rated director’s cuts get. That’s all that really matters to Netflix. Because that determines what advertisers are willing to pay for commercials inserted into the movies.

We’ll probably never know the answer to this, but the advertising bucks that the PG13 cut of Rebel Moon Part 1 made on the family friendly ad-supported plan has made has undoubtedly been the determining factor for moving forward with Part 3. Well, that and if there have been a substantial number of new subscriptions to Netflix since Rebel Moon launched in December.
