Ok, a looooooot of post. Please, can someone tell me how you guys ended talking about a rape scene on 300, suckerpunch and watchmen?! hahaha (forget it)

Irish, sorry to ask, but do you know Zack, someone at Cruel and Inusual Films or Warner?

I didn't think there was a rape in Sucker Punch. I thought...

...Baby Doll got her shot off before it happened.

All of the above.

I work for Time Warner (not film related), but also do contract and freelance work for Legendary Pictures and Cruel & Unusual Films (which is run by Zack, his wife Debbie and their friend Wesley Coller).

She did.
There is no rape scene in the movie.

I was under the impression that the girls were getting raped by Blue and perhaps some other asylum workers. I mean why have that whole fantasy of them basically being strippers and taking the "clients" back to that bedroom and Blue being some type of pimp.

Why would Babydoll have that type of fantasy if it wasn't somehow a reflection of what was really going on? So it's not actually shown - but it is implied.

From my point if view, the club or cabaret is a reflection of the reality. I'm sure the Asylum staff abuse the girls. Like you say, they implied that. Also when they have to get the "fire", Amber has to do it because is her "client", so that security guard look like always go to see Amber.

Yes.

Rape is their entire world, but there was no specific rape event in the movie, beyond that one kiss at the end (I guess you could call the lobotomy a figurative rape). Unless that was what was happening to the girls while Baby danced, but I didn't take it that way. Amber was in the Mayor's lap when she stole the lighter. Was more going on? What about Rocket in the kitchen with the cook when they tried for the knife? Sweet Pea and the map?

The brothel layer is the defense layer against the 'hurting the girls' reality. Gorski teaches the girls how to impose illusion over their realities, and I assume that they've used it to create the brothel. Are the things happening in the asylum through the movie so vile that they could not be shown on screen except through the filter of that metaphor? Or is the cinematic purpose of the brothel to remove the necessity of having a fixed sequence of events on that base level?

I really need to see it again.
